I wonder why more American's don't travel over to Iran,Muslim countries? They are obviously not a threat.

If we're quoting, then

HeySoose said: But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.

I think the whole thing is a big show. While not really following the whole incident too closely (because I don't care), I suspect the preacher to be a bit media-seeking. But, I think if he wants to burn Korans tomorrow, in memory of the 3000 Americans burned by Moslems 9 years ago, whatever. Like others have said, why are we tip-toeing around trying not to piss off people who have already sworn to kill us all? They have regular Bible burnings. Google it up. Oooh, oooh, I don't want to get the suicide bomber mad. He might go off. Uh-huh. I bet he'll go off anyway. Or not, and a few books returning to CO2 (ZOMG) in Florida isn't going to make any difference.

Pat Buchanan has an opinion piece out: Bonfire of the Qurans which I won't copy and paste, but I found it interesting, if a bit confusing. Not sure what his point is besides we are experiencing a leadership vacuum.

Yeah, I'm an idot. Or maybe a glutton for punishment. But I just gotta ask...

Okay, you're point is all Muslums are dangerous. Right? So what is it you want to do? What is the plan to take care of the situation?

Americans don't visit Iran because they put you in jail and torture you as a spy if you go there. I know you know that. So the question is clearly rhetorical. But what is the point you're trying to make?

Because it does not only pisses off all the people who want to kill us, it pisses of all (or most) the Muslims. Of course, there are many who believe that is the same, which is pretty sad I think.

It really is playing their game, and realistically playing into their hand (it's exactly what Al-Qaeda wants).

Although seeing that they are already chanting death to the US and death to Obama (neither of which really have ANYTHING to do with this guy) makes you think we have already paid the price whether it happens or not.

I also can't believe that bone head brought the ground zero mosque into it! Talk about screwing that up! Now the mosque people have a great reason not to want to move! (so they don't look bullied).

The proof that we mean no harm to peace loving Muslims is exhaustive…the incessant call for reassurance is like dating some insecure, clingy chick that asks “do you love me” fourteen times an hour…um, I’m starting not to.

It would really be nice if those who profess to be "christians" actually acted like the christians and muslims acted like muslims..

While pundits cry about his insensitivity, politicians act shocked, military leaders act like cowards, and internet posters everywhere SAY all kinds of crap without DOING a darned thing, this guy did what no one else seems to have been able to do.

He got the Iman in NY to commit to talking, or at least re-considering his stupid (and thoroughly insensitive) plan to build a monument to his god on the graves of our innocent dead.

Maybe he deserves a few kudos for actually being the voice of reason, instead of the never ending band of loudmouths complaining about him.

I'm no fan of burning holy books. But I am also no fan of burning thousands of innocents then desecrating their graves.

How does an idiot with 50 followers doinig something assinine become worth of being on the the national news. I'm pretty sure on any given sunday I could find 50 morons to listen to me and I have nothing of interest to say either.

Not to be outdone the good folks at Westboro are going to one up him, planting a flag on their pile of korans

http://www.kmbz.com/Westboro-Baptist-church-to-burn-Quran-on-9-11/8116308

It is still unclear if a Florida pastor will go through with his plans to burn the Quran on the anniversary of 9-11 tomorrow, but one thing is for sure, a church in Topeka will burn the Quran, "and then some". Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church has angered more than its share of military families over the years with its protests at the funerals of American soldiers. On Saturday, they not only plan to burn the Qur'an, they plan to burn an American flag as well. A spokesperson for the church tells the paper that no time or location has been set, though it will happen on 9-11.

Actually, he didn't get the guy to talk. The imam says no plans to talk.

Actually, he may have. Did you read the link you posted?

But there is still much that is not clear. Jones says he still intends to fly to New York to meet with the imam who's heading up plans to build an Islamic cultural center near ground zero.

That doesn't say the iman won't talk. It says it is still in negotiation.

The news yesterday was on again off again all day. Every 30 minutes the story changed.

But he DID get him to reconsider his stupid idea (though not necessarily change his mind) like my post said, and he MAY be going to talk to him today, like your link said.

My point was he accomplished a great deal more than the media, the President, you, or me.

I give him credit for that, whether or not I agree with him.

It's damn time for "men of faith" to actually do what the stories in their "books" tell them. Not that they ever have or ever will.

Read that, bash your head on a wall, read that, bash your head on a wall. Repeat until you get that instilled in your brain.

In a 100 years none of this will matter, we'll have a new "enemy" to scream about or a new "problem" that needs attention NOW! Our brains are fickle, we surround ourselves with other peoples problems to make our own problems seem more normal. But, we live in the "now" and forgot that yesterday drives now and that drives tomorrow.

As a Christian, I agree with you 100%. Too many proclaim to be something they're not. Christians are not perfect, but we are to try our best to live as the Lord wants us too. Love one another, be gracious, be good to our enemies, etc. It's not always easy, but He gives us the strength.

I didn't clarify as I should. Alot of what we grew up watching on tv, the people in Mid-east burning our flags, chanting death to America, is coming here and many of us are still complacent. We are putting our arms around our enemy and it makes me sick. They want us dead, they want their Shariah law to replace the Constitution. No, not all Muslims are killing people. What should we do about it? Well, unfortunately our own laws protect them. I don't know. But as a sensible American probably wouldn't want to go to Iran, etc. If they continue to get what they want, living here won't be so fun either.

Kinda figured this would be the next big pile of BS to drop. I'm actually surprised thee obama hasn't come out and said "SEE! SEE! I told you guys this is what would happen if we pissed off the people who want to saw our heads off on TV!"

This jackass didn't get anybody killed. These protesters decided to attack (according to the article you posted,) a NATO base...because some numbtard halfway around the planet talked about burning a book. They're lucky there was only one casualty.

Saying this is Joe-d-bag the preacherman got this dude killed is like me saying "Someone on the 1t4rw3bz said something that hurt my feelings, so I'm going to Bill Gates' house and throwing rocks through his windows 'til he does something about that person who made me sad," then, after his security people tazer my ass to death, my family coming out and saying "This is all iggy's fault. He knew teh p00 was unstable, and his insensitivity caused this whole mess."

Nahmean?

Every religion has fanatics, every single one of them. What you are stating is exactly what I detest about people who are followers of a particular religion. Somehow your religion is better than another religion. BullE36 M3, you just want the world to be painted a single color and that just happens to be the color you like. What if I disagree, or am I not allowed to do that. How do you know either one of us are right. Your scriptures, and entire scriptures of every religion in this planet was mostly written by people we never met. We have interpreted them, some from ancient languages that very few actually know. But, no we took 6 college classes and somehow that makes us an expert.

I am so bloody glad that I grew up as an atheist and am one. Please continue your bickering and mindless bigotry and hatred. I really thought we were supposed to judge people based on their actions, not on their race, religion, color of skin, sexual orientation, etc. Academia is surrounded by people from all over the world. In the expanse of our two research labs we have people from South America, China, Middle East, Eastern Europe, India, US, etc. All working harmoniously to ensure the really bad people don't win, you know the really hard research that keeps us up till the cows come home.

Eventually some other species will overrule this planet, if we haven't killed ourselves before that. Brave new world my arse.

So your deciding all religions are bad based on the actions of a few individuals. How does that make you any different than the religious fanatics you are complaining about.
