I'll add I love listening to Rammstein and popek at work when we are on the roof. It's a pick me up there is music but don't have the lyrics distraction.

I used to listen to old REM stuff.  Does that count?

No. But I'd say that Pearl Jam does...

I've been leaning towards music alone with little or no lyrics. House/trance/techo stuff. And Nightcore remixes too.

Not stuff a person of my age should admit to.

I listen to a ton of trip-hop / psybient / trance / downtempo stuff.  Most of it made within the last 5 years, if not newer - as in, released this week.

I'll be 57 at the end of this month.  What does age have to do with anything?

I'm going to guess that hybridmomentspass is a big fan of the Eurovision competition.

Very cool.  I lived for a time with a classically trained vocalist, and one of the fringe benefits of the arrangement was that I would listen to her work on things, some of which was in a foreign language.  She was also a competent pianist, and had quite a talent for sight-reading.  It is from this relationship that I developed my skills as a piano mover.  LOL.

That's just it. A style developed for the rhythms of one language doesn't work for a different one.

The day you stop listening to nightcore remixes is the day you started to die.

IIRC nightcore originated in the 80s.

edit: Nope.  2001.  Witness the original nightcore:

I saw a YouTube video on Why Shakespeare Could Never Have Been French that talked about this. Different languages stress syllables very differently.

I am not familiar with what that is, I posted those two mostly because they are internet gems. Now the first two I posted - love it.

Then you get weirdness like when the German hip hop group Seeed takes their song "Augenbling" from the original German and interprets it into English as "Blink Blink". Get some weird lyrics because they're clearly trying to keep the same flow and sound of the lyrics.

You need to watch Eurovision. It's like the musical Olympics. To YouTube with you!
