It's been years since I did video work, so I am rusty on the editing and I only had two cameras with one stuck atop the mast.  Still, thought It would give it a go and a share.

It is a Series 1 GP14, built in England By Bell Woodworking in 1964 and imported into the states.  She was used for racing from 64 to 74 in Stone Harbor NJ with the first owner, the Second owner (his brother) took her up to Allentown where he sailed her on some small lakes before stuffing her in his barn in 1981.  The original plan was to restore her when he and his wife retired and moved to their vacation home in Tennessee, but in the Divorce, he got the boat and she got the lake front house, so he sold her to me.

I spent a year stripping her to bare wood, replacing the decks, revarnishing all the brightwork, rebuilding her rig (the mast had split) and painting everything inside and out.  I also added some watertight storage compartments fore and aft to help keep her afloat in case of a swamping.  As most of her hardware had vanished of was broken, I had to replace it all, including the worn out sails and rebuilding her original trailer.

Spark has been a labour of love and she is a joy to sail even if a bit too high strung for most of the days we get around here.

Cool video.

There's nothing better than the sound of the engine not being on.

She's a pretty boat.  I think it would be great if the video started with some shots of the boat from outside the boat, or some shots taken from another boat while you are under way, but even so, nice video.  I just wanted to see more of the boat. laugh

Where are you sailing?  Raritan Bay?

That is my favorite style of video.

No words because none are needed. No music because again none is needed.

Just shots of what you are doing and why you enjoy it.

Perfectly done.

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful boat! Thanks for posting the vid, more pictures of it would be great.

I'm hoping for at least one more sail on my old Albacore this weekend, it's just an old fiberglass boat but it sure is fun.

Believe it or not, "Lake Bay" between The Mainland and Atlantic City.  The Ramp in Pleasantville is one of the few that is completely free and it completely enclosed by a breakwater, making it one of the nicest ramps around.

As for Spark here are a few more pictures of her:

Wow, that is an absolutely beautiful boat!  The hard work really shows through - Just thinking about the hours of sanding, staining & polishing makes my hands hurt,  but it looks like a million bucks!

I went down the rabbit hole of watching some other GP14 videos:

Don't you wish all spinnaker dousing was that easy? Also, nice roll tack examples!
