I totally plan on setting up cones in a to be determined parking lot in Baltimore this weekend and seeing how terribly this goes. I hope the SCCA appreciates the video that will be accompanying my resume and cover letter to take the Solo program to new levels in highly populated urban areas.
Small lots within a region, no problem. Confused by 172 car classes, no problem
.Don't own a car, no problem, Scootercross is for you!
I'm in for updates on the quickest and fastest scooter company.
LOL! You pay by the minute though, so be sure to clock out between runs.
I'll tell you what, those things are way more fun to ride than I expected. Easy to crash though; it takes a bit to get the hang of braking behavior and distance.
Easy to crash, no helmet requirements, timed competition...

Love where you're heads at!

This morning's Jalopnik article has you covered with lap times and pricing (Bird wins the true scooter bracket)
Never heard of Bird or Lime, but I learned something today!
Captdownshift: I live in Mt. Vernon. Let's do it!
I might have something to do next time I'm in Nashville now...
Let's see. A 57 year old, 240lb, 6' tall dude racing on a rented electric scooter.
I'm in!

Already invented by coleeasterling in College Station, TX. Look up micro moto series on YouTube.
Used to do this in the driveway with the Kazoolings. Wear wrist guards, helmets and knee pads. Shoot video.
After seeing someone gap stair sets on one, I'm down with this idea.

Love it. Atlanta is infested with these things and I have to admit they're fun and more than a little sketchy. My co-worker is our resident scooter enthusiast, is built like a jockey, and is waaaay faster than the rest of us on the way to our lunch destinations. Of course, he recently blew out a couple of teeth during an incident on the beltline. I've been tempted to wear my full-face helmet since then...
I've had a couple of very minor crashes but I can totally see how easy it would be to faceplant on one of these. Makes me wonder why there aren't more bicycle helmets with a chin guard for face protection.
Crashes aren't a negative, they're an opportunity. There are some twisted people that watch Nascar for the wrecks. Heck we may need to have a class that features a defender on a scooter between 2 gates or on a slalom section, giving it an American Gladiator type vibe.
I scouted some lots in Baltimore last night, every single one had a marked BPD patrol car with an officer sleeping in it. So that's an unexpected hurdle.
They just got these things in the greater Boston area back in April. Within the first 15 MINUTES of program launch, someone nearly killed themselves on one.

Not necessarily. Run the events at night. Electric Scooters don't make much noise.

There are a lot of paved trails in the DMV and Baltimore area. Bet you could do an event stage rally style, but send everyone at once. I'd be in (as would virtually everyone in the wdcr rx community).

Exactly, and he thought the officers might be a problem. My thought was that the cops might just sleep through the event. Kind of a joke.
