I cut the cord years ago.  For a while I just used an antenna, but I ditched the TV for a projector (no tuner).  I never miss local TV except for two days of the year; NYE and superbowl.  I only pay for Netflix and Prime, neither of which have what I want

Is there any way y'all know of how I can stream ABC for NYE?  Or recommend a tuner-only thing that I can incorporate into my entertainment stack and dig out the old antenna?

ABC has their own app.  Might be able to livestream from it, or from their website.  I know Tubi has had some network livestreaming, too, but I don't know to what extent.

Do a free trial for Fubo or YouTube tv and then cancel.

If you have gmail you can tweak your email address to get around some of the simpler filters in case you've done the free trial before. Just use your gmail address with a "+ABC" or what ever you choose, i.e. "bob.smith+ABC@gmail.com and it will still go to your gmail inbox but the to: address will be the one with the suffix added.

I use one of those $25 antenna's off Amazon and does the job just fine.

According to the app, it's not live TV.  It's snippets of news stories, teasers for upcoming shows, and more like a collection of reels.  If you want to watch live TV you have to sign in with your cable/satellite credentials which I don't have.

I don't have a tuner.  I have a projector and an antenna.  I need the tuner to go between them.

Right now it doesn't appear that any of the streaming that includes networks are offering a free trial but I'll look again.  Fubo does ABC, but only big cities like LA and Chicago.  I have Hot-for-Teacher's Hulu login but that doesn't help me

That's actually the one that was in my cart, minus the recording ability.  I think I'll just pull the trigger on that.  Let's hope it works.  Fortunately I'm pretty close to several stations and my rabbit ears worked pretty well on the old TV I had before the projector.  I just know that some tuners have a lower threshold/sensitivity/gain/squelch and you miss out on a bunch of channels.

Long term I'll probably do an outdoor antenna on the roof, but (good old smart me) I removed all the coax when I renovated.  I thought, "It's ugly and I'll never need this again."  Facepalm

Put it in the attic if you can. It will be protected from the elements, avoid an unsightly thing on your roof, and (potentially) allow for shorter, easier runs of coax. Might even be able to hide it completely within a wall or ceiling.

If you're looking for a more serious solution, take a look at the HDHomeRun series from these guys:
https://www.silicondust.com/

It's a little box with one or more ATSC tuners in a box that will push the streams to your LAN.  I've got one for my MythTV setup ant it's totally reliable.
