Very cool moment. Last night as we were driving home TigerMom asked me if she could change the oil in something. Sure baby!!
So today on my way home I picked up oil and filters for the Miata and Suburban. She's awesome!

No no no, it was an oil changing accident. Don't you see the oil and filter?

Product-placement AND alibi at the same time...
You, sir, are a genius!!!
That's the only good part about having a 4x4 when it's time for maintenance. No need to jack the truck up to crawl under it. I can even get under there with a creeper.
Good on your wife for jumping in there and trying this stuff out. I tried to get my wife to just tell me when a bolt was lined up on my truck.. She tried... Couldn't tell if the bolt was moving or not. Sigh.

Actually we had done the Miata first. It was already up on jack stands on I removed the undertray when I first bought it.
Her first comment: "what a terrible place for the oil filter. How can you do it with your big hands?" Pain. Pain and cursing.

Could be worse. Could be a classic Mini. You can see the oil filer, but can't get to it until you remove the grill and even then it's a tight squeeze...
My ex- changes the oil in all of her cars. One side effect of not trusting mechanics...
Post that pic to Pennzoil and STP's Facebook pages, then see if they will sponsor your wife's new blog.

That must explain why she's your ex
My daughter would change her own oil if her numbnuts husband would watch the children. He has every excuse in the world not to do it (change the oil). Her Edge is the easiest thing I've ever changed the oil on.
Got me one of these last year. Some cars, like the wife's Mercedes and my former MINI, have the filter up top. Using the extractor means you can do it all from above-- no jackstands, no creepers.

With the Toyota I still have to get underneath, but at least they put the filter up towards the front so I don't have to jack it up or crawl under to get to it.
The version above works with an air compressor to get a vacuum. There is also a hand pump version if you don't want to rely on an air compressor being handy.
