Thoughts gang? They are pretty similar, I like the expandable memory of the Moto but I prefer the smaller screen of the Nexus. Just looking for a nice phone that will last 'at minimum' 2 years with daily use and charging, easily lasts all day on one charge, and have smooth performance for regular stuff. I thought about getting a Windows phone because they have battery life figured out but the app availability ruined it. I really like the OnePlus 2 but I don't want to bust my ass to get an invite. I refused to look at Apple products. What say the group think? If someone has a shareable invite to oneplus 2 I am all over that.
Thanks
I'd go with the 5x. It has (over the Moto) the 2 things I love most about my iPhone 5s - the fingerprint reader, and the reversible charging port.
My big priority has always been updates if I'm going to go Android. The Moto and the Nexus are probably the best for updates, but I would trust a Nexus slightly more. Nexus devices get monthly software updates since the stagefright vulnerability broke. I haven't heard the same for the Moto.
What's the difference between the Nexus 5 and the 5x? I have the 5 and the only way it will last all day on one charge is if you don't use it at all. The battery performance is one of the main complaints.

The 5x is 2 years newer, has a bigger battery, and doesn't have a thirsty 2.3ghz quad core.

I wont buy another LG handset after breaking two. Stupid capacitative glass they use renders them bricks with the smallest cracks. Other than that, 5x all the way. Love the nexus line. Had a 4, went to a 5, would have a 6 now but I exploded my 5 and needed a phone asap, so I went to a note 5. Love the giant screen.
5X. Supposedly the new Nexi have really good cameras, which as always been a weak spot for them.
So no one is worried about 16gb of data? I don't carry a lot of info on me but I do have over half of my current 32 gb HTC One.
If it were me, I would go Moto X Pure. I have been carrying a Moto Maxx with VZ and I like it very much.
No finger print: I've never had it so I am not sure if I would miss it.
Moto X uses traditional micro USB cord. To me that is a Pro not a Con since it means that I can continue to use that many car cords and home chargers that I already have.
I really like that the Pure is 32GB and then SD card to expand on that. It also seems that Pure has 3GB of ram while 5X only has 2GB of ram.
20mp camera on Pure. 12mp on 5X.
I'm still using a 1st gen Moto X and love it other than needing more space at 16 gb. It's almost time to replace it but until the Pure came out there wasn't a new phone that I would give up the X for. It's been rock solid, so I'd probably do the Moto.
Mp on cameras aren't everything, I bet the 5x has better software. I am not super concerned with that though. The storage is my biggest worry about the Nexus. The regular USB port is a big plus to me thought as both phones have fast charging capabilities.
Anyone have a 5.7" screened phone? Will the Moto X fit in my pocket? This is my biggest concern about the Moto.
Thanks for the opinions gang!
I just bought a note5 as well. No thanks to new nexus devices not available through carriers. So far I'm liking it.
It is a 5.7 inch screen and does fit my front pocket

I have a Nexus 6, in a rather bulky case too. It fits in my pockets just fine.
Still torn. I would be getting the 32gb nexus if I go that route so it is 430 for it. I have a few small micro sd cards to use with the 16gb Moto X. If I got a decent sized card for it but there is another 20 bucks on the moto x price of 400. I am leaning towards the Nexus.
Now to decide if I want to try out Google's Project Fi when my ATT contract is up in January.
I said screw it and ordered the Moto X Pure 16gb. I figured the largest files that I ever have are audio books and podcasts which will be fine on the SD card. Thanks!

You'll be happy with it I suspect. I like my second gen one. Similar to nexus with basic Android and without LGs sketchy build quality (my nexus 5 only lasted a couple months before having charging issues)
Blackberry Passport. I can't say anything bad about it. Except there is a learning curve if you come from another platform. I bought mine after 4 apples in a row so it took a while to figure out. On the plus side a border agent confiscated my phone to scan it and couldn't even open it so there is that.
I would go Moto, as they are now owned by Google. Seems anything that can come out for Android and be stable, that one will have the hardware to do it.

False...Lenovo. Google sold them off awhile ago.
Yeah, a friend had a first gen Nexus 5 and it didn't make it two years. I completely forgot about that.
I am always surprised that Blackberry is still around. I am happy they exist but I am not willing to go to a Windows Phone (I was VERY tempted but no apps) so switching to an even smaller environment isn't an option.
In reply to Grtechguy:
Interesting. I liked Lenovo's attempts at Mobile devices but the polish wasn't there. Buying Motorola should get them all the details knowledge that they were missing.
In these type of threads, any Blackberry recommendation always seems to come from The Canadians. Blackberry is a Canadian company and their products are much more widely offered in CND than they are in the US.
It's sad really. I loved my previous BB products but they really lost their way and lost the race when the world came gunning for them with Apple and Android.

Huh, about a year and a half ago it seems. I stand corrected. But the basis still stands...
"Google wanted Motorola for the patents, not for the manufacturing. Apple's patent attack on Android licensees was slowing down and worrying Google's customers. Motorola had a massive patent library that can be used defensively"

RIM lost it's way when they, for a very brief time, said they would stop enterprise integration.
You are a business PDA/phone manufacturer and you stop supporting business stuff you might as well shut the doors.
RIM corrected the mistake but had already lost it's customers due to Apple and Google trying to temp people away to begin with. No since in people switching back once it is done. It took my company at the time about 3 months to make the full switch when they stopped support.
I still have a 8310 sitting in my dresser. It was a great device.
