buyer beware?

If you don't want to spend 66,000 dollars, don't sign the contract.

The story mentions that she's somewhat mentally disabled, and living on a fixed income. Sad.

Granted the newspaper article will be biased toward the woman (since she was a 'victim') so I tend to take that with a grain of salt but tacking $25K on top of a $41K car is pretty damn bad. If she is somewhat mentally incompetent then that makes it even worse. Most of the car sales people I know would have nothing to do with such a deal. Now, the sales managers... that's another story.

That's a really hard core left wing paper, so that's the point of the story.

I was just surprised at something like that happening these days, at a major manufacturer dealership.

My neighbour growing up would go in for routine maintenance on his Suzuki Sidekicks and show up with a new vehicle every couple of years. NOTHING wrong with the previous vehicle, other than needing an oil change, or something simple. We didn't realise it, but it took nearly ten years for Alzheimer's to kick in. He was very suggestible, and if he was told that there was a major problem with his vehicle, would happily take a new payment to avoid the major expense (even when there was nothing wrong, no major expense). He was taken advantage of, but then, he liked his new vehicles, and could easily afford the payments. Still, I won't use that dealership when I am back home, and still tell people to avoid it.
