Our kitchen isn't big, but it's very functional.  We have enough counter space, storage is OK, not bad enough to call in professionals or spend big money.  There's a broom closet that some years ago I installed wire baskets that slide out.  Well, I can't say Mrs. 914 is a hoarder, but the racks haven't moved in quite a while, they're stuffed.  Now the Honeydo List involves a rebuild.

The space is 16"W X 23" dp X 72" tall.  I know, I know, the real answer is to get her to throttle back but that won't happen.

Here's the space, won't show the inside because it's a mess.

Those corner shelves are usually the least-used space, and there are lots of doo-dads for storing different things there that make it more usable. Maybe start there?

The corner cabinets are a huge amount of lost space.  There are all sorts of slide-out systems that utilize the entire corner?

Also, if you cant control hoarding, maybe organization of it would help?  I'll try to find a link, but following how professional kitchens store ingredients and various cookware would be a good start.

Yeah, I've been looking.  I've seen corner drawers with a V shaped face, the runners are 45* from each counter.  My issue du jour is the tall cabinet on the right.

After the first 20 years in our house I learned a lesson.  If you make a closet or space more efficient at storage someone else will just dump their crap in it and ask for more space.  I have boxes of partial plastic containers( no lids or lids with no bottoms) the the laundry room storage that were there for years.  Wife complained about storage, pulled this out and the discussion was not friendly but she got the idea.  Eventually partial plastic, appliances that get used once a decade and food in expired containers got tossed.  This doesn't always work, there is one closet with monopoly and such games covered in 15 years of dust and a couple totes full of the kid's stuff.  They are in their 30s now.

So while it may lead to a few days of the silent treatment go thru the shelves and make some stuff disappear to the basement of attic.
