As I understand it, there are some people considering the installation of metal roofing on their homes. By doing so, they would have what amounts to a great big tinfoil hat without having to bear the social stigma.

I think this may have evolved into an actual non lethal weapon. I remember seeing an article recently that a new non-lethal weapon was being tested that behaves similarly, but it actually generates a feeling of extreme warmth in a human body without actually burning folks. Intended to disperse crowds by making it be too unpleasant to be around.

That's just what THEY want you to believe! If THEY ridicule the tinfoil hat, they can convince people not to wear them. THEY don't want people thwarting their efforts at mind control. Fact is, the tinfoil hats DO work, and they are a cheap, effective way to invalidate BILLIONS of dollars that THEY have spent to control your mind!

Isn't that a powerful microwave? When I was a radar tech, we would sometimes accidentally cook small animals with the more focused beams.

An EMP is naturally part of a nuclear blast. The power has been harnessed and it is possible to create an EMP blast now. It is not felt by the body, but a massive one has never been set off, so I'm glad I'm on anti-convulsants. My suggestion for the rest of you, expect sore muscles for a few days and day one, I suggest as little movement as possible.
There are many ideas on what an EMP would do. A pinch was used in Oceans 11. Probably not a good idea of what it would be like, because it will fry most small electronics. Cars are "tested" for "EMPs" with lighting bolts. They shock the E36 M3 out of a car with more power than an EMP could boost. The problem? That's not really known by civilians.
As a prepper, an EMP is, I believe, the most likely weapon to be used against our country. It would explode miles above the country. It would effect many electronics across the country and almost all electronics in the Ozark Mountains in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas.
A Faraday Cage is the only thing that a pulse cant pierce. A house with a metal roof and metal siding and a metal floor sealed up would essentially be a Faraday Cage.
