It's a tough situation, there's a lot to be stressed about right now. It's important to find what makes you happy (or an alternate activity, if the first one isn't an option). Sunshine helps most folks, but I know it's been raining all weekend here Music, being physically active, sleeping, praying, projects, drinking - do what you need to do to get through it. It's very important to have honest conversations with people about how you're doing, as this can be very overwhelming. Add in the uncertainty of not knowing when/what "normal" will look like, and it's even more important you cut yourself (and your loved ones) some slack.
Hang in there, everyone - we'll get through it together!

There's a lot of loss of control in this situation and that'll make anyone feel on edge.
Thanks Stamps, you doin ok?
I'm good. Last two days were almost normal. Tomorrow marks one week on self quarantine. Today I threaten to beat Lil Stampie about 10 times but only threaten to kill him once. Looking forward to him being in his room tomorrow doing school.
I got to work to find everyone panicked. Apparently we skirted past the state shutting us down by stretching the definition of "essential transportation related manufacturing". However our dealers that sell the bulk of our product weren't able to pull off the same trick. So that spike in sales has quickly fallen off and people are already talking about layoffs after 1 day.
So yay, that's fun. At least I had a good weekend in the shop.

That sucks. From talking to friends a lot of businesses small and large are making decisions without really thinking it all out.

As a small business owner, I've been thinking things out really hard for two weeks, and I have no firm data to work with, other than a massive drop in business. There is a frustratingly large number of variables in this situation...

I was thinking this morning that we're probably getting ready to see the second wave. The first was when the government forced businesses to close so they laid off their employees. Round two is going to be the laid off people not spending any money, companies - even those that are still operating - not wanting to spend any money, and that's going to result in more people getting laid off. Rinse... repeat.

Round 1.5/2.5/3 is/will be companies looking at their stock price and what it has done to the balance sheets, and laying off large swaths of people. This is what I'm scared of, doubly so becuase my 2 backup gigs are out of commission right now due to Covid.
This is where I can't understand not having a hardcore lockdown for 4-6 weeks. Do that, and knock it out, then scale back to another 4-6 weeks of the shelter in place type of deal. Otherwise this will be going well into the fall.
My personal opinion, of course. Not a virologist or an epidemiologist, just a nerd who likes to look at numbers.
Well as of about an hour ago I'm officially on temporary layoff.
