"Bob Salem has made history – by being the first person in the 21st Century to push a peanut up Pikes Peak with a contraption taped to his nose. This ambitious goal was reached after just under 7 days of determination."

Not even an original stunt, someone already did it 100 years ago. Read The Man Who Walked Backward: An American Dreamer's Search for Meaning in the Great Depression, about Plennie Wingo, who tried circumnavigating the world walking backwards. It talks about how in the 1920s, people made silly money breaking dumb records, like pushing a peanut up Pikes Peak with their nose or pole-sitting, through sponsorships. Unfortunately for Mr. Wingo, his stunt was attempted after the Great Depression hit and no sponsors came forth. He made it as far as Turkey, but the money never materialized. It's a fascinating read, really. It did prove that humanity hasn't really changed at all, we've always done dumb things for attention. TikTok and Instagram challenges are just the latest iteration.
On the one hand, what a waste of time. On the other hand, next weekend I'm going to drive an expensive truck and trailer 575 miles hauling a car that I spent several months and a not insignificant amount of money building just so I can drive around a 2.55 mile closed course a bunch of times. There are many people who would consider that a waste of time and money so, who am I to criticize.
Pushing a peanut up Pike's Peak with your nose just isn't the same since they paved it all the way to the top.
All these records going up Pikes Peak-where are the records for coming down Pikes Peak on some gravity powered contraption? That would also be interesting to see

Yeah, in a soap box derby.
Instead of PPIHC let's see the PPISD (Pikes Peak International Soapbox Derby). Think about how exciting that would be!

Yeah, in a soap box derby.
I prefer a mountain bike... the road would be scarier, even paved!

I was actually wondering if they allow cycling on it? If so I'm sure there have been roadies doing it.
Street luge...
Or heat inline skating with 12-20 skaters released at once.

I haven't ever seen cyclists on Pikes, but it's apparently allowed!
