Did anyone else read the title of the thread with the guy's voice who did the announcing of the old superhero cartoons?
Who else hears the voice from the Super Friends "Meanwhile back at headquarters..." voice whenever someone posts a meanwhile thread?

LOL. I should have read the whole thread before I posted below.
So, who else is out of work for the duration of this?
Brb, gotta go to the bathroom and take a congress.
We actually worked at the VA today. I was wondering if the engineering staff would be there. Apparently keeping their antique building standing is essential.
Luckily for me (Active duty military) and my very good friend (VA Nurse) we went to work for the duration today. Most of the civilians that work with/for me, did not...
Luckily for Congress they passed the spending bill for active duty military or there'd be an Egypt-style "reorganization" going on today.

One of my best friend's works at NASA as a contractor. His job is very essential, but he got the boot anyway. He's off until the 17th at a minimum, and then he'll find out if he has a job or not. Leave it to the Gooberment to not be able to booger up the difference between essential and non-essential.
WHY. DOES. ANYONE. SUPPORT. POLITICIANS. ON. EITHER. SIDE. OF. THE. ISLE? WHY WOULD ANYONE HAVE FAITH IN ANY OF THEM?

QFT
Of note: Even the threat of a shutdown generates a HUGE waste of time.
I have a friend who works for the Federal Parks. The threat of a shutdown requires the generation of contingencies plans for workers as well as all ongoing contracts, not a small task.
But don't worry, Congress is still being paid:
