But not by much.
ARGH!
It's not "a whole another". "Whole" is that wonderfully American English linguistic known as an infix, where a modifier is placed inside a word rather than before or after like a prefix or suffix. "Whole" is placed inside "another".
It's "another whole" or "a whole nother", not "a whole another". "A whole another" is like a PIN number or an ATM machine.
Grrr

Pete complaining about "ATM machine" was one of the first conversations I ever had with him 30 years ago. Old reliable, is our Pete.

Possible Britishism. Though they might be more inclined to say, "needs rebuilding".

"Nother" is just a misdivision of "an other" and is itself erroneous.

WTF happened to "to be"?
I came across that when I moved to CO. "Needs fixed", etc. it's not a Britishism as I never heard it in Canada. Besides, im not sure the Brits would do that to their own language.

It's usually "a whole nother [ball game/kettle of fish/...]" which an infix to "another".
At least, I have never encountered "nother" without a pre-preceding "a".

And November is ninth, October is eighth, September is seventh, August and July are.... named after some Romans who screwed up the calendar so they could have whole months named after them.
