A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a couple of coworkers about car movies and I brought up "Dirty Marry Crazy Larry". One of my favorites because of the stunt driving in it, and one of my favorite scenes is when they jump the impala over the draw bridge.

Well last week we had a job down in Chattanooga and as I pulled up in the driveway there was a 27' Packard sitting next to a new vette and I thought to myself, cool a car guy. We went into the basement and he started showing me around I noticed a framed poster from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. So I told him we were just talking about that movie the other day and it's one of my favorites. He said he was one of the stuntmen on the movie and he was the one that jumped the bridge. He also did most of the driving in the charger toward the end of the movie. He told some stories like how they had to film that jump over eleven times because the thing kept nose diving and taking the front end out.

He was a really cool guy and it was awesome to get to listen to stories of what it was like to be a stuntman back before they had everything down to a science and no computers to fix mistakes or do the real dangerous stuff for them.

Stunt driving could be a very fun career. Or very painful.

Usually both. I've worked on movies where they did car stunts. Those cars are shot when they finish, sometimes well before that

In reply to mel_horn:

Yeah they said the cops found some guy hiding in there who was running from them after breaking in to some nearby homes. You pretty much have to walk to get to the back seat.
