Wow. Is it wrong that the first thing I thought was, "berkeleyING RAD!?! How are they still alive?"
Sorry, I'm desensitized after I inadvertently was shown a video of a kid spiting his entire face open in a cliff diving accident.

Wake up one day and say, I think I'll jeopardize my job, royally berkeley my life and family up w/ crack, heroin, meth etc.... C'mon ppl, there's enough warnings and examples of failures out there in this day and age. I just don't get it.
Some people are hell-bent on self-destruction. Whether it's because of a chemical imbalance, or a E36 M3ty childhood, or a traumatic event, if you haven't gone through it, it's hard to understand. Personally, looking at pics like that breaks my heart. That's somebody's kid, and chances are, everybody in the family has either given up, or unwittingly encouraged the behavior.
I've had friends dangerously close to death on coke and heroin, and a couple that didn't make it. I've got a relative of a friend right now who has been hooked on Oxycontin for almost 10 years, got his wife hooked, now they've got two kids that they "home school" who are basically socially inept and so far behind in their education that it's unlikely they'll ever catch up. The family is trying to help, but they're failing. I want to step up, but don't want to over-step my boundaries.
Keep in mind, these folks are REALLY freaking smart - like off the charts smart. The dude severely injured his back and multiple surgeries later, they said "Sorry. You're just going to have to manage the pain. Here are some insanely addictive prescription drugs that you'll never be able to kick." And the rest is history. The wife has always had severe issues with depression, and had a really berkeleyed up childhood. I can only assume she dipped into his stash once and never stopped.
Anyway, if you haven't dealt with those self-destructive feelings, or been in a spot where drugs were the only way to quell agonizing pain, try not to get too high up on your ivory tower. That E36 M3 is bad luck.
The meth mug shots were just sad. The zombie plague that is krodil is a mixture of scary, fascinating, and gross. I had no idea.
very scary stuff.. if I had not known family members and friends from school who had destroyed their lives with drugs.. I never would have believed people would do that to themselves
I just watched a Vice video about heroin and krokodil, which depicts certain areas of Russia as highly destitute, with few opportunities for living a comfortable life.
