We pit the current generation Micra against a classic 1987. Since this is GRM, it's probably not surprising which one we liked better, which is not to say it's the better car...

Those little 1200's were quite a sturdy little engine. I had the oil pan off one once, and there seemed to be lots of girders and such holding the crank in.
I also had a person bring theirs in for an oil change once. I took the drain plug out, and nothing came out. Like not even a drop. Zero. Put a new filter on, filled it with oil, got yelled at for suggesting they had almost blown the thing to hell, and off it went.

Ahh, I miss our little k11. My partner and I drove the hell out of that little car.
Spinning the wheels and sliding it around the place, for a car that was never meant to be a fun car goddam it was fun.

Great article Lesley. Your nephew reminds me of just how large a person fits these little cars.
It used to be a constant source of amusement to our friends seeing me get in or out of the micra (im just shy of 6'4") and it never really felt cramped.
One Time at a party my gf and I decided we were done for the night and crashed out in the back. We were awoken by panicked mates trying to figure out what she'd done with my legs, there was no way I could have fitted apparently.
Eventually we got sick of the front seats and they got swapped out for a set of famillia gtx seats. It ended up lowered a couple of inches and put onto some 205/45/15 rubber, Wich made a fun little car even better.
If we ever come across a k11 Super s, there's a good chance it'll end up being purchased and turned into a toy.

I wish I hadn't sold mine. They're pretty hard to find.
I once saw a graphite grey Super S with rally lights on the front, man, was it a hot looking little car.
This reminds me that I need to get Clayton on here. I bet everyone would get a kick out of the Cletus-vette. Also, awesome piece there. Kind of interesting to think that eventually, the new Micra will be considered light and in-tune with the road in the same way the K11 was.

How did you find someone who kept their original Micra that nice?

In reply to G_Body_Man:
You know Clayton? Tell him to get his butt on here. I told him this is where his people are...
In reply to Lesley:
Yeah. We're both on Oppositelock, and he actually wanted my Cutlass, IIRC. I liked him too much for him to have it, because he would have been way over his head in terms of rust repair (a point later proven with Twiggy). I'll try and get him on here. Who doesn't love a C3 that idles at something like 99 decibels with mufflers?

I kinda wish we got the Micra down here.
