Entrance is about a mile from my house, the whole mega cavern is almost under my house (according to some maps I've seen). Neat place.

Start digging! Make your own entrance.
My company has a plant in e-town, ky just down the road, and It seems like I usually end up traveling there once or twice a year. I will definitely be making an extra stop next time. I am super excited about this!!

Cyclocross bikes are for offroad. Granted, you don't hoon a cyclocross bike.
$40/session is pretty steep, though. I'd love to ride something like that now, with 3' of snow on the ground that likely won't be gone until late March at the earliest.
We drove through the Christmas light show in the Louisville Caverns this year. 10 bucks a carload to see the lightshow.
It is a BIG place.
ive been to the "lights down under" in louisville and did some work for ford in some similar caves back in KC. the best part is its always ~60 degrees in there all the time, summer or winter.
I'd give it a try if I was nearby...and had a bike in decent condition
No reason EVs couldn't be raced underground, to race ICE cars you'd need one helluva ventilation system.

That all depends on how much of a badass you are. Search youtube for "road bike party." Granted, that's a $7k carbon roadbike in the videos, but a cyclocross bike is arguably tougher.
I might drop $40 once for the experience. They should offer local memberships with unlimited visits for a few hundred dollars. I might drop 3 or 4 bills a year for a riding option that was totally weather independent, even though I'm not a dirt jump guy.

That's okay. We're all wrong about something.

I also looked to see who was holding a big joint
In reply to jamscal:
Time to start drilling a shaft for your private elevator....
Edit: Damn, beaten to it. How far underground are these caverns?

Are they really tougher? You jump off and run when things get difficult, and you are allowed to change bikes mid-race so if one gets damaged, you throw it off and grab another one.

I've seen both of them. Martyn Ashton is actually a paraplegic now from a trials riding accident.
What's tougher on a cross bike is the wheels. The biggest difference between a cross bike and a road bike is geometry and bottom bracket height. Areas of the fork/frame might be more beefed up for disc brakes.
