Actor Pamela Hayden, the voice of Milhouse on the “The Simpsons,” is leaving the show after 35 years. Hayden, 70, performed in nearly 700 episodes of the series, also voicing beanie-wearing bully Jimbo Jones and Rod, the polite eldest child of the Simpsons’ neighbor Ned Flanders. She announced her retirement on TikTok, saying, “It’s been a rollicking good time.”
Hayden’s final episode will air on Sunday. The show did not say who will take over as Milhouse.
Will we have an Episode like Dallas ?
"who killed JR ....ummm Milhouse"
and he comes back with a new voice and red hair !
I suppose on a show like the Simpsons that's lasted so long it's inevitable that there will be change. Marcia Wallace, the voice of Miss Krabapel and Phil Hartman, the voice of Troy McClure passed away. Hank Azaria stopped doing the voice of Apu and the character was dropped. Dan Castellaneta is the voice of Homer Simpson and ten or more other characters but he's 67 years old...imagine if he decided to retire.
This is shocking news. I had no idea people still watched this show.

It is obviously still making money, but I've tried to watch an episode every few years and it is astounding at how bad it is now. There are still a lot of funny bits... but overall it is unwatchable.

Even when I was younger I thought it was pretty cheesy/cornball. Then again I grew up watching Sam Kinison, George Carlin, and Eddie Murphy. I'm only 42, so I've always liked the edgier/saltier type of humor.
I took a long break but the kids shot into it so I have now watched the whole series. There are eras and some are good some are meh and some are funny. The more recent ones are current events based so if that's not your deal they probably aren't funny. The classics all seem to be seasons 3-8. Other than the characters the shows are very different. I hate to see her go but damn that's a good run. Enjoy retirement!
Yeah, seasons 3-8 are generally considered the "golden era" and some of the best TV ever made. I'm one of those weirdos who never stopped watching. The show has had it's ups and downs, but has stayed good enough to keep me engaged. The last few seasons have seen a bit of an uptick, actually. They are bringing in more younger writers and I think it's helping.

I still remember how shockingly fresh The Simpsons was when it first aired as a short bit during The Tracy Ullman Show which aired back in what, 1988? That's been a little while ago. Virtually everything I watched on television back then aired on the upstart FOX network.

I've heard the latest season is surprisingly good, I've hardly seen an episode in years myself though.
I can't think about lawn sprinklers without channeling Milhouse.
