It did its job. Perfectly. Because you are remembering it. And talking about it.
It hasn't worked unless he bought some Frosted flakes.
The advertising show/podcast I listen to has an episode dedicated to questions about advertising. The most common question? Why is so much of the advertising we see and hear so bad?
I think that's where we are on this commercial.
In reply to Peabody :
Or...it is working. Stewart mentioned it, got me to think about it, and it even got you to mention it by name. As you said, the end game of advertising is to get you to buy. The first step is to get you thinking and talking about it.
"Tomorrow?"
That is the total word count in the email.
From that, I'm supposed to know what you are referencing?
I can almost promise the sun will come up tomorrow. There is a higher-than-even chance I'll wake up tomorrow. But anything else, I'm going to need some more information.
Like maybe the job or a purchase order number? How about my quote number?
Any of those would be super helpful in determining what you would like to happen tomorrow.
As it is, I have one guy out on vacation this week. The rest of the crew is scrambling to keep up. So the odds are very high that your answer is more like next week instead of tomorrow.

True. And since my wife is out of town, I had to celibrate by lavishing attention on my sister and her daughter.

I once got an email from a field sales rep that was simply a store number in the subject line. I still use it in group presentations when I am training people how to NOT communicate with my team when they need assistance.

Why is running with a new track organization such a PITA? If I provide you with 10 years of track history, I shouldn't need a reference from an "instructor" to not get stuck in the novice group...
I ordered a lift kit.
It shows up in a few days missing the upper control arms. Pretty much the only reason I ordered it. After a week of trying to get a hold of the company they ask for me to 'rate the support i received'
I responded that I didn't receive any support so far. THEN, they sell me it'll be the mid July before I see them. Possibly the end of July.
Wonderful!

Been there, regrettably had to deal with that.
That's why I live in a desert now lol.
I mistakenly thought I could take a day off during the week to go racing. Nope. I also needed to work one of my days off too.

Man I feel for you every time you post about your job. They seem to really lay the screws to you. I hope you can grind it out to retirement.

We had a "convention" where I worked that you started the subject line with an asterisk * to signify it was all in the title. Worked well ...
Thanks for rolling out some new group policies without fully testing them.
You killed all of the LTSC systems and hosed up the wireless connections.
Took a group of us all day yesterday and today to piece it together.
Me making fun of me at my own expense is cool.
You making fun of me at my own expense Is not cool.
Congratulations, dude, your the first person at work to make my E36 M3 list.

Stop blaming social media. It's not the problem.
You are the problem.
Social media is just a tool. It can be useful, but it's also very good at learning what you want to see and what you don't. If you're complaining about all the BS and negativity on social media it's because that's what you want to see.
If you want to be miserable that's your choice, but stop complaining about it.

Respectfully disagree. It's what the social media algorithms have determined you are mostly likely to *engage* with.
What I *want* is a positive uplifting experience that I can sign on, interact for a limited amount of time, and leave feeling satisfied. Much like what I get here. Social media wants my attention more than that, and knows that the best way to get that is vitriol, controversy, and thirst traps. Cute animals on occasion, but more the first three.
I have to exercise self control to not allow myself to fall victim to my own negative tendencies.
In reply to Beer Baron 🍺 :
You gotta put in the work. Make the algorithms work for you. Block the accounts you don't want to see. Block anything that deals with did you don't want to see. Report bullE36 M3 that gets through.
I don't like or share anything that isn't something friends do. But I block all kinda of E36 M3 every day to curate my experience. I don't comment on E36 M3. I don't even read comments.
The bigger issue is so many bots out there posting the same E36 M3, it's hard to keep up with all of them.
My main complaint is stuff I'm actually trying to follow getting pushed out for a hundred of the same video that idgaf about. Oh boy, another crotch rocket running from the cops, block and skip like the other 100 that came before it. This is so relevant to the stand-up comedy clips I'm trying to watch, it just makes sense to show it to me, right?
In reply to NY Nick :
It's really changed a lot the last few years. I've never seen so many people leaving or trying to leave in the 20+ years I've been here.
In reply to Peabody :
Nah, there are literally enormous research teams employed around the clock trying to get you to engage and trying to slip past your shields. There's no way I'm going to bother fighting the hordes of bad actors domestic and foreign in order to find out Cindy is having a birthday party for her goat this weekend. Cindy can text call or email me and let me know. I'll be there. But berkeley Facebook I will never get an account.
Not to mention I'd rather just avoid the whole "racist relative seems to think a social media account is a reason to let his/her bigot flag fly" thing. Few people have the guts to say it in person but for some reason a computer just opens the flood gates. Forget it. I'm staying away.
Dang I miss Craigslist being the local classifieds hub. Oh well I don't need more stuff.

Went to the bank to get out some cash to pay for a replacement for my long-in-the-tooth Yaris. Apparently expecting to be able to get $3900 at a bank is too tall of an order. The first teller gave me a dismayed look and said "Well, we can't do that you're going to clear us out." Ah, excuse me for thinking that I can get my money at the money place. Cue another teller going "I can take you down here" but then still making remarks about it. $3900 doesn't even seem that insane. Okay, if I wanted $10k cash, I could see getting snippy.
In reply to NickD :
When I bought the S60R, I needed a couple days' advance notice to get $3800 in cash, because the buyer didn't trust any other form of payment.
Banks do not carry cash anymore.

You points are mainly legit IMO. But what I find interesting is how the algorithms are devised. I've never been deluged with negativity in Facebook or Instagram. But from the moment I hit Twitter, it's like the entire machine is designed to piss me off. I've been able to settle it down somewhat by banning the worst offenders and only clicking on the sort of posts that I want fed to me, but regardless, the hate is thick there, as are the complete nut jobs.

I'm not buying they don't have the cash on hand.
I pulled $5000 a couple of weeks ago at Wells Fargo. They didn't look at me cross-eyed until I made the mistake of asking for it in $20s. She asked if I was sure and without thinking I said yes. When she handed me the envelope I understood why she asked. That's a lot of $20 bills.
We do work in banks on occasion. I can say that the Wells Fargo where I bank puts $75,000 in the ATM on Friday afternoon to keep it from being empty before Monday morning. Some machines are stocked with over $200k.

Yeah, I really hate FBM most of the time. I have yet to figure out how to search for something just within a specific category, so when I'm searching for something car related that will come up a lot in other categories (say, when I'm looking for something from a Nissan Leaf) I'll get all the listings that have 'leaf' anywhere in the listing.
