Uhhh, you don't happen to work for a Maryland-based firm with the initials "GA", do you?

Because I could have been one of the mercurial architects in your drama there, this week.

To be fair, the engineers were at least 3 weeks or a month behind.

Negative, sir. Wrong end of the country. We are on schedule, despite the fact that the architect continues to invent new and unnecessary deliverables, and has made a hobby of moving the goalposts. They just refuse to put their pencils down.

We aren't even contracted with the arch. We're contracted with the GC. If anyone is driving this bus, I don't know who they are. This whole project has been a surreal game of telephone.

I messed up the roux or didn't have the cream and milk warm enough before it was added.

The cheese for the baked Mac & cheese didn't melt and ended up  lumpy gooey playdough instead of a creamy cheese sauce to mix with the pasta before putting on the smoker.

I was able to "salvage" it by breaking the cheese into crumbles to mix with the pasta. It seemed to be well received and not just people being polite, since most took some home with the rest of their leftovers.

It bugs me that I messed it up even thought no one else but my wife knew.

I was selling some Suburban K2500 wheels. 8 bolt wheels.

Guy asks me if they'll fit his 4-runner.

I asked him how many bolts hold the wheels on his 4-runner.

The family trying to "help" me with Thanksgiving dinner tonight.  The "help" made more work than if they had just left me alone to do it.   Dinner was delicious and fairly on time, but far more stress because of the "help" and the things they brought themselves that were "done, just need to be heated".

It doesn't help that my wife's sisters kids are basically uncontrollable, somewhat due to their neurodivergence, and can apparently shriek and volumes only previously known to air raid sirens.

I really hate cooking with anyone else. When I am cooking, especially if it is something that requires a lot of attention (timing, multiple dishes, or reading a recipe), I usually end up hyperfixating on the task and any time anyone asks me anything it really bugs me as it pulls me out of the zone, my reply will sound like I'm frustrated, and then I get admonished for being an shiny happy person (which I usually am in that situation).

The other part of it is that our kitchen isn't big enough for the one of us, so there is simply no space for two adults to be working.

Clean VIN, no title

Lost title, stop asking for it.

Have keys, no title.

Lost title haven't had time to replace (In CT you can request a new title in 10 minutes online. You know if you're the legal owner..)

Owned the car since 2015, no title.

WTF is wrong with people. I get that it happens sometimes, the New Beetle I bought didn't have a title, but I just bought it for parts so it wasn't an issue. But today especially it's been about 75% of cars I've looked at, no title.

I'm not bright enough to go to bed when I should.  Last night, fed, showered, ready for bed at 10.  Sit down in my recliner, turn on YouTube and get involved in an old guy from New Hampshire repairing old furniture.  Realize after a while that I should go to bed.  Look at the clock as Ai climb into bed, 4:22...  alarm is at 5:45.

I'm curious how many episodes of old guy furniture restoration I "watched"...

If it's good and you want "not broken" car money for it, replace that $100 part like an adult.

My take on that is that the seller knows replacing the part will only expose other stuff that's broken. If they don't replace the part they can always hide behind the "hey, I'm not a mechanic" defense.

Yes, I have a somewhat dim view of my fellow humans. Unfortunately it's mostly based on experience.

Spent 2+ hours last night to have the local chain tire shop install the wrong tires, tell me that a lug bolt was cross threaded when they took it out, and they couldn't complete the alignment because the adjuster is frozen,  didn't put the spline drive for the lug bolts back in the car, and the TPMS light was on leaving. Of course it was closing time so they could do anything last night, and I'm back again today.

Shame on me for believing them when they said them when they said the lug bolt was the issue and the hub threads are good. I ground off the bad threads, and cleaned up the end taper and "surprise" it won't thread in, and they are insistent that they didn't mess it up.

I've been here an hour waiting for them to get the right tires on, and will need to come back after I free up what I believe it going to be the tie rod end. Although at 23k miles and no winters I find it hard to believe it's frozen.

I hate YouTube Shorts.

The bottom is cut off on desktop.  If I scroll even a little bit so I can see the bottom, it plays something else.  Then berks up the algorithm.

Recently I had a spate of interesting looking videos that I couldn't watch because either it was an AI reader or the voice over was done by an idiot.  "In double-u double-u eye eye, the Messerschmi..." *thumbs down, close*

And this is exactly why I prefer to take the wheels off at home and drop them off at the tire shop without a car attached.

Doesn't fix everything, but at least it reduces the attack surface.

That's what I do when I have to. Goal is a tire machine myself soon. I did the tires on my Kei truck by hand because I didn't care about balance, only goes 50 mph max on most drives.

Seconded. I'm convinced that YT Shorts are suggested based on their ability to hook the viewer into watching  the next one. They're like visual crack. Their intellectual value makes Pimp My Ride look like Masterpiece Theater in comparison. And YT really wants us watching them. Every time a bank of Shorts pops up on my feed, I close it, and 30 days or so later, there they are again.

The sheer volume of AI garbage is at least as infuriating. Again I think the creators and YT are both counting on a majority of viewers either not knowing the difference or not caring. Pearls before swine. I just wish it wasn't so damned hard to weed out.

The Shorts that get recommended to me tend to just be snippets from something that I'd already watched, too.  Or a preview of a full length video from one of the musicians that I follow.

While I am ranting, the way YouTube desktop page shows notifications sucks.

On mobile, I see this:

On desktop, all it says is "For you: (uploader), with no info on what the actual content is.

Then I get suckered into seeing a short, half the time.

(I don't watch YouTube on mobile)

A spring broke on the door of my GE dishwasher.   1st spring I find on-line, $82.89.

I did not buy that one.

I finally found one that looks right.  $5.67

That's right. It looks right.  I am not paying $82 for the correct spring.

Replaced the main floor bathroom sink fixtures after the faucet started spraying sideways at the base on Thanksgiving.  Because I have standards, I got a really nice brushed nickel Kohler setup and I don't care that it was $70 more, I'm the one who has to use it every day.

It has the push down type of stopper, not the pull/push rod type, so I had to change that too.

Hmm, there's a blob of hair that was stuck to the old toggle rod in the drain pipe. Given that this time last month I was going through several bottles of high strength drain cleaner to try to clear a nearly completely stuck drain, and I have a bit of hair on me, if that much accumulated in a month no wonder it plugged.  I picked it out and set it aside.

While I was tightening down the new drain pipes, my eyes wandered to the blob of hair and saw that it had ribs in it.

Well, I guess I'm never eating again...
