Tickets: 2 x $156.00

Total Cost:  $438.83

I keep seeing delivery fees on digital tickets. ...how?

I've seen "convenience fees" for printing your own tickets! Like, what the actual heck?!

They don't say it's for your convenience.

I am a contractor (specialty contractor and GC). Currently working on a fairly large job for a local high-end open-to-the-public space.

My client's client (the end user) needs additional structure to support a piece that I'm installing. In fact, I'm donating the labor to do the installation (about 10k worth of labor). The end user needs support work done to handle the final product but doesn't like the cost and they keep beating me up on the price. No, the price is the price. When you sell tickets to your venue, people don't get to pick and choose what they want to pay for; you have one price. Same here. This is not negotiable. You want it or you don't, and at this point I'm so insulted and irritated that if they say literally anything to me other than "we have the PO for this, when can you start?" I am going to withdraw my bid and suggest they seek another GC.

I have a crew of 3 out on a job site today. I cannot be there myself: It is a 45-minute drive and I have meetings booked throughout the day. Got a call this morning: One of the guys shat himself and went home. Well, okay - what can I say to that? Then one of the other guys calls. "(Guy) went home. We're short-handed!"

I know. He shat himself. There's nothing I can do about it. Looks like you get more hours today.

"I think we're out of [item.] Is there any in the van?"

I don't know: You packed the van, not me. Also, you are a 30-second walk from the van and I am a 45-minute drive away. The expedient thing to do would be to look.

"Also (other employee) cut down the wrong piece, now we have to do it again."

I just. . . goddamit. I quit. I berkeleying quit.

It's an actual scam and it's why ticketmaster is being sued by the federal government.

I think I'll download a few of his books, sounds like a cool premise

It's good, generally light, space opera. The only catch is that his writing style- essentially completely first-person narration- is off-putting to some people. I didn't have any problems with it though and he did a pretty good job of keeping things interesting over the 52 books in that series that he released (the 3 in the new series he had just started are a similar writing style, just with an alternate-history fantasy element instead of sci-fi). I read all of them through Kindle Unlimited, but am figuring I'll pick up at least the first few in paperback as well.

I'm being micromanaged by my shop manager from 1700 miles away.

I'm currently away on a "business" trip to support a military exercise. There were some issues that did not get resolved before we came out here and now he's freaking out. He messaged me at 3:17am (4:17am his time) to ask me the status of the problem. I didn't respond until 9:05am my time because, well, I was asleep. I have been working 12hr days and got off work at 9pm last night. He was irritated that I didn't respond to him ASAP. I didn't even want to go on this trip but was browbeat into going because nobody else wanted to go.

This is the guy that has had 5-6 HR complaints against him, got demoted from the lead position, has caused 4 people to quit since I've been here (about 10 months now) and is generally a dick. He makes the work center extremely toxic.

I'm about to look for another job when I get back.

Insurance company #1 had my auto and homeowner policy since 2017ish. They decided to non-renew the auto based on claims due to my son and wife.

The best rate I got was with Flo, and moved my auto insurance. So far so good...

My wife's employer had a benefits fair and there was an insurance agent she spoke with that was a local rep for Flo and could provide quotes for moving homeowners to Florida to get more of a discount on the auto. Great, any savings helps with the current cost.

Quote looks good, move to Flo and cancel insurance company #1. Flo send an inspector out to look at the house the week of Thanksgiving with no notice.

Today I get a call saying I need to replace my roof to maintain coverage. After a bit of discussion the rep tells me the inspectors photos show tarps on the roof and deteriorated shingles. She sends me an email with the description saying ther shingles are discolored, missing aggregate, missing shingles, and shrinking (huh?).

I know why the shingles missing aggregate and look discolored. The inspector and underwriter had no clue what they were looking at and made assumptions.

The roof covering is a rubber membrane. The previous owner had an issue with ice dams, and due to the unfamiliarity of contractors with the roofing system (2' wide insulated panels with sheathing that run parallel to the ridge and secured to 4x6 beams spaced on 24"), they went with the membrane.

I call back and explain the situation to the rep. She puts me on hold to contact the underwriter to find out how to resolve this misunderstanding. When she comes back on the line the resolution is the Flo is cancelling my homeowners because they will not sure home with a membrane roof.

So I cancelled my previous policy that wasn't an issue, and now Flo Is cancelling me. I chose to email the local agent rather than calling to avoid saying something that would be unhelpful.

They couldn't have figured this out when I gave the info to the agent about roof when getting the quote?

Of course I haven't received the refund for the previous policy, will need to pay for a new policy up front, and will probably get a bill from Flo for an increase in my auto insurance since it's no longer bundled with my homeowners.

The internet, specifically the crap click bait ads.  I look at some information online about a Firebird.  I get a fake ad about the 2025 Firebird.  I look at the thread in GRM about the Chevy Spark.

Yep. I get a targeted ad about the 2025 Spark.

I need to tell Chrome to stuff it and use something else.

And another piss off to Chrome.  When I type targeted, do not correct it to Target.

Sometimes I know what I am doing.

I theorized when I was younger that if you wanted to call in sick, make the excuse the most embarrassing type of medical problem you could think of. That way they wouldn't give you E36 M3 for it because they would want to avoid any discussion of the embarrassing condition.

Holy carp.

This is what's wrong with business in this country.  We have a postal strike going on that nobody really cares about. Fine.

I wanted to order parts from Solen, a Canadian electronics supplier. A small box that would be, maybe, a few pounds that would normally ship Canada post. They want $50 to ship from Quebec, five day service via UPS. Not gonna happen.

I got a box of suspension parts from RA yesterday, $34 from the US in two days.

I priced coilover springs from Summit just now. $13 shipping from the US.

You wonder why sales are down, and business isn't good? People, you need to be better.

Keurig coffee makers.

What jack hole decided that my coffee maker would be made better by putting a computer inside it?

It seems like every time I try to clean this stupid thing it develops some sort of malfunction.

My wife bought me one a few years ago. I think it lasted 18 months. I bought another and it lasted another 18 months or so. I bought a Braun and it's 4-5 years old and still going strong. Second rant: I always hated the K-Cups, I think they are an environmental disaster so I used a reusable metal filter that was a PITA to clean instead.

A couple years ago, SWMBO got me a combo regular coffee pot and K-cup thing, forget the brand.  I don't use the K side much but it is handy for hot cider and hot chocolate occasionally.  If I want coffee, I almost never drink just one cup so I never bothered with these things.

In the vein of hot beverages, I went to three different stores this afternoon, and all three were picked clean of miniature marshmallows. Looks like we're slumming it with just whipped cream on the hot cocoa tonight.

And I am unbelievably grateful that this is my biggest gripe for today.

I drink instant coffee. Its easier than a Keurig, cheaper and you have the added bonus that nobody wants to drink your coffee because everyone thinks it's gross. You get used to the taste 🙂

Late June early July, sometime mid chemo, I caught the fridge door with my big toenail. Felt it break, it bled, left a big hollow between skin and nail as it grew.

I've been waiting months for this nail to fall off.

It hasn't fallen off yet, but it finally grew out enough to see the break in the nail. Which would be cool. IF I had enough hand strength to cut the damn nail down without twisting it off.

So now it's a fun game of protecting the base of the nail while trying to shorten the top.

My city is hiring for a Planning & Development Director....which is absolutely hilarious. Our mayor and a few council members have successfully stopped anything from changing in this city for years. We've slammed the door on outside businesses & developers so hard that we have a reputation. This job is pointless since the person will be undermined at every turn. I feel sorry for anyone who applies thinking it will be a good career move.

Batteries Plus. I bought a pair of Group 31 batteries with 4 year warranty. Not cheap. That was 2 years ago. They've gotten weak, neither of my name brand automatic chargers can get 1 of the 2 to charge to full, time for a try at the warranty. I already figured I'd have an uphill battle to get them replaced, but what I wasn't prepared for? Them just saying "sorry, I can't help" before they even saw the battery.

I stopped at the closest store to my job-site. It's 20 minutes from the store I bought the batteries from 2 years ago. I was told I needed to go there. I showed him email receipt, he typed in order number and sorta shrugged, told me again I'd need to go there.

I said "so, even though you're nationwide, and the warranty doesn't stipulate I have to return it to the store I got it from...you're saying I have to go there?"

"No, I just can't help you."

"I don't know what that means. So if I were traveling out of state, and had an issue, they'd say 'go back home'?"

"No sir, they'd be able to help you."

"But you can't?"

"No sir."

...

"Thanks??"
