At the library my wife struck up a conversation with a science teacher. The lady mentioned a knowledge-hobby of mine so I chimed in. She then mentioned a couple other authors like the one I enjoy, then went on to gush about a widely-discredited "science" book and patronize ppl who disagree with its major tenets.

Perhaps happily, I think she was too into the idea that everyone agrees with her to detect me dissing the guy's hack job work, and we later went our way on good terms.

It's a shame they went on their way to teach bad science to impressionable young minds.

Diagonally, the state is fewer than 120 miles in distance. How is anything in CT far from anything else in CT?

This tells me the individual isn't serious about their car habit.

Hyperbole much?

Actually I think that that's true at least somewhat.

Isn't instant mashed potatoes not allowed in Europe or something like that? High Fructose Corn Syrup is frowned on too I believe

If a little googling is correct, he might live about 3 hours from me. I've gone that far for parts before.

In CT from where I am you can get to most of the populated areas in 1 hour. Way east close to Rhode Island could be 2 hours.

I could ask where he is in PA and possibly offer to meet part way. I've done that plenty of times to make sales before, but just kinda annoyed right now about the whole thing.

Or I could cut the bumper into little pieces, then I could ship it to him easily.

From the buyback amount of the wrecked Touareg I am ahead with what I've sold so far. I could just miss out on some additional money and make my life easier and toss a bunch of parts I still have.

3 hours is nothing if he needs/wants it.

In general in my experience, the less they listen to you to start the less you want to have money being a part of your interaction with them.

Kinda been going all day. On kiddo duty at 9am while wife had a telehealth appointment, then high tailed it to the ice rink for a game, came home and immediately piled everyone into the car to see Frozen the musical, came home and wife went to the grocery and kiddo and I did some crafts and made some dinner, then while wife was out, she got a call that her dad hurt his arm - not great for a guy with 0 good legs and using a walker. She goes over there, then I drop kiddo off with her at FILs house while I have to go ref two more games. Afterwards, pick up kiddo, bath, books, bed... wife gets home at 11pm, and at this point I've been snoozing with kiddo for awhile.

Did you notice a dog walk anywhere in that wall of text? Neither did the dog. And when it's the middle of winter, you can't forgo a walk with a Great Pyrenees. So at 12:17am, I put my carhartt bibs on over my pajamas and took the dog for a nice 17º walk. And now I'm back in bed, wide awake.

yeah, you don't see it much here but in europe there's a lot of ultra pasteurized, shelf stable milk. weirds me out a bit tbh. I've found lactaid has expiry dates at least a month out, which is nice, since i only use it to make steamed milk to add to my morning espresso

We have pasteurization in Canada.

We also have less steroids, hormones and who knows what else.

Whoever had the silver WRX before I did was apparently a wrenching rookie. A broken plug on the wiring harness, some slightly rounded bolts, puzzling uses of zip ties, etc.

That's not the rant. We all had to start somewhere. The rant is that there is a plug jumped with a resistor, and the wiring diagram I have is about as clear as mud. I'll have to find another reference.

My working theory is that someone once asked for a bag of homo milk on the wrong side of the border and, having never fully recovered from the embarrassment of being laughed out of the Circle K, is now on a private anti-milk, anti-American campaign.

Unrelated rant: I'm not sure what a rotator cuff is, but I'm pretty sure mine's rurnt.

It's called Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) pasteurization.

The milk is heated to a higher temperature than standard pasteurization (140*C). It will be hot enough that the milk can undergo maillard browning - a reaction between proteins and sugars that is what browns meat and puts crust on bread. This can change the flavor of the milk, but isn't going to be any more unhealthy than eating bread crust.

It is then packaged on sterilized equipment in sterilized packages to avoid introducing bacteria. This allows for sealed containers to be shelf stable at room temperature.

But it is still just milk and will go bad just as fast once you open a container.

Ultra-pasteurized, shelf-stable milk is available on both sides of the border. Neither country drinks it in any quantity because large parts of the population aren't educated enough to understand the benefits of the process. The biggest of which is less expensive milk and milk products.
