Holy crap... I'm glad you're as much in one piece as you are!
For real! Also PSA: wear a full face helmet. I cannot imagine doing that open faced or no helmet.

Holy crap! I'm glad it wasn't worse!
I've been really thinking again about getting a small dual sport or adventure bike to commute on/tool around on but riding on public roads scares the hell outta me.

Yeah, I'd love to have another bike... if traffic was line it was 40 years ago.
I was ready to drop $1k+ on the Celica for all new brakes if needed. I had no idea what various POs had done or NOT done.
My friend with the garage said 2 front rotors and an hour labor. That's it. The pads looked new, he scuffed them up a bit and were fine. Rear brakes no issues.
$300.

If it is pushbutton start, try shutting the engine off while stopped and the shifter is in Drive.
Cool things will happen. If it's column shift, make sure your arm is under the shifter when you do this
Its a key, column shift. Tried this.
You're right, it's cool!
Trash service includes 2x free 'bulk pickups' per year.
If I had known/remembered, I wouldn't have spent the time slicing the headliner into pieces small enough to fit inside a 35gal wheelie bin.
The win is that I can get rid of all the other mouse-saturated interior trim pieces and not have to pay anything extra.
Hopefully I get a BIG win and avoid hantavirus...

I tried to Google this, but I'm failing.
What's it do?

Does the same thing when you open the door to drive onto a hoist ramp.
berkeleying infuriating, I say. If I choose to fall out of the truck, that's my damn business.

Down 18 lbs and my blood pressure is in range.
Nice! Have anything to do with the whole not working anymore thing?

I may have ranted about clutch interlocks with the same general feeling.
You only really start a manual in gear once before you remember, it's sort of handy to be able to put it in low gear and crawl it off the road/up a trailer ramp/etc with the starter and I had 2 fail on me in a short period before I half-assed it to work
Not my win, but my daughter's. Both she and her husband were laid off from their respective companies on the same day back in December. She was offered a job yesterday that pays better than her old job, and she'll be doing something she really enjoys. I guess it's a win for me, too, since I won't have to worry about them having to move in with us.

Some, though improvements began last summer when we restarted our dedicated effort to walk 40-50 minutes every day we could. Also generally started eating a little healthier without going full diet / CrossFit.
But yeah, not having to sit at a desk all day helps, a lot.

Fantastic! Best of everything to you.
Just because you're deployed to the Middle East doesn't mean you can't play with the local doggos.
This guy follows us to work and just hangs out. Then he follows us back to our sleeping quarters. I didn't think he knew how to play fetch but be proved me wrong.

A few small changes can make a big difference. I think the older we get the more important it is to stay active.
Apprenticeboy had a physical a few months ago and his blood pressure and cholesterol levels were both high. He's only 29, but apparently his dad has had the same problem his whole life and is on medication for it. He took it as a challenge and told me no more unhealthy foods, I look after the meals on workdays, it's part of our agreement
He's down 13lbs, both his cholesterol and blood pressure are in the normal range and he's learned things about food that will help him the rest of his life
('Loophole' FTW in Colorado) Pre-1976 car + collector plates + "Non-Use of Vehicle" Form = completely(ish) legal way to start a project car with: no e-test, no insurance, no late fees for not registering, and (biggest win) no Roadworthiness/ VIN Inspection when the car is 'done' and stops being 'not-used'!
It was under $200 total for title transfer, sales tax (sub-$1k purchase price), and plates. Collector plates are good for 5 years, and driving less than 4500mi/year is not going to be a problem right now...
E-test would have been a problem w/o an engine.
"Non-Use" really requires that the vehicle is still "operable", but 'operable' has such a vague meaning... some of the individual parts still operate?
Going with a Rebuilder's Title or declaring an "Inoperable Vehicle" both end up requiring a Roadworthiness/ VIN Inspection which has to be done by the State Police for a $53 fee, supposedly >1 month lead time on appointments, and worst of all it means someone official will look at what I've done. Late registration fees are supposed to be $25/MONTH, and IDK if there is a maximum limit?
This should be a minor rant, but I am choosing to view it as a minor win.
I have suffered yet another injury setback. Just about every joint on my right half has failed me at this point- this time it appears to be an IT band, affecting my right hip and knee, making walking nearly impossible, so that's fun. The only remedy for it is RICE- rest, ice, compression, and elevation. I'm ok with 3/4.
Why is this a win? Well, the reason for the injury is because I've chosen to do something stupid and started working towards in- and in the process created a habit that I am VERY loathe to break. I am quite upset that I have to rest this injury and cannot continue to exercise in the manner I have become accustomed to. This represents nothing short of a monumental shift in attitude for me- where any previous representation of exercise or physical activity was met with "I'll drive to the end of my driveway".
The only DOWNSIDE is I am liable to go out and hurt myself again trying to get back into it. I am not known for subtlety.
