I have a knock off GoPro I bought last year for the Chumpcar. I am happy with the video quality but it doesnt record while the charge cord is attached.
I would like to hard wire it. I figure I can get a 3.7v cell charger (since its a 3.7v battery) and solder the leads directly to the camera.
There are 3 prongs on the battery: positive, negative and mystery.
Does anybody know what the middle slot is for and what I should do with it? Would this plan work?

A lot of the lithium battery have a on board temperature sensor.
Does anybody know if the sensor terminal would need some sort of input? I don't really want to modify the camera unless I am sure I know what I need to do and my google fu doesnt seem to be helping me out.
The 3rd one is for thermal monitoring, you can ignore it.
From the picture, it looks like you could try it out using alligator clips without modifying the camera. I suppose there is always some risk of frying something, but as long as you get the polarity right on the power terminals, it seems like you could at least test whether the thermal monitoring connection is really required.
