Monaco GP

who watched it? what a great race, i was very excited the whole time. I was rooting for Team Force India F1's Adrian Sutil right up until he was taken out by the reigning world champion with only 9 minutes to go. If I were in his spot I would have thrown punches, and cried my eyes out. so sad.

congrats to Sebastian Vettel on a great bounce back to 5th after a less than stellar start to the season. Good job also to Mark Webber(4th), Kazuki Nakajima(7th), and Rubens Barrichello (7th), who all hauled "uncompetitive cars" to points positions!

Yeah, that was unfortunate.

Im a Kimi fan, and at first even I was blaming him...

But, looking at the others with rear brake problems at that spot, I eased up a bit. but, still, poor Sutil. Thats heartbraking.

Don't you know one of those boats in the harbor would be the place to be? Either there or in a room with a balcony overlooking the hairpin turn.

Monaco + rain = awesome, edge-of-your-seat race. Bit of an anti-climax towards the end though, with the safety car deployed after that crash. Still, I thought it was very interesting to watch the teams gamble with tire decisions as the track started to dry up, despite a prediction of more rain.

I'm very much not a Kimi fan, and must admit I got quite riled up when he took out Sutil. Definitely the most exciting race of the season so far!

I was prepared for a follow the leader type of race, as most of the Monaco events are. I was quite surprised with how competetive it was. Rain, the great equalizer.

I was really hoping to see Sutil get some points but even though Kimi gave him the boot so close the end, I think Sutil has now raised his price quite a bit.

Overall a really good race by all.

was definitely a great race to watch. i was really rooting for sutil as well. wanted to be mad at kimi but it seemed like sutil was in the "runoff" straight of the chicane right there so it was just shitty luck that they both had trouble right there.

Whilst Monaco tends to be won by the best drivers, it also tends to favor the fortunate who stay out of trouble, as the best car's ultimate abilities are never exploited, which would allow for passing of crappier cars as on a normal circuit. Makes for the most exciting race of the year with little or no passing - oh wait, that happens most races in F1 anyway. :twisted:

Monaco is the shiznet to F1; there is, and will be no better.. ever. Bernie said so. And Max concurs.

Monaco is like a game of chess. its a lot more about strategy. in the same vein, its a lot like playing craps.. theres a shitload of luck involved..

ok, after studying the replay some more i think it's more than obvious that it was just shitty luck. maybe i don't know something about formula one rules, but if Sutil hadn't overcooked(i'm assuming) the chicane and gone straight through it, there wouldn't have been contact. not an excuse for kimi losing control but can't lay all the blame on him either.

That part of the track has a dip right there, if you were watching closely, many people had little moments there. Even the announcers say that later.

A fast Kimi, matched with what look like locked or sliding rear tires by Sutil, which made the rear of the car drift to the right, therefor killing stopping distance caused the bad situation, and the dip was the catylist.

If you look at the replay closely, they BOTH lost rear grip. only Kimi started swapping, Sutil just went into a slide. thats why they both blew the chicane before the hit.

Poor Sutil, tough luck.
