I just ask my wife to put my wallet in her purse. Or I leave my wallet locked in the car's storage bins. Maybe my car has become my purse? I mean, my "murse", I mean "European carry-all"?
Seriously, I hate wallets. And I hate carrying my cell-phone. And I hate fanny-packs.
Used to use a money clip, or just cash and rubber band around cash and check card/ID etc.
Then in college circa 2002 I got a cell phone and could no longer keep the money clip in my front pocket, so back to a wallet.
I refuse to wear my cell phone on a hip holster on my belt. 1. I don't wear a belt. 2. It looks dorky as hell.

Homemade money clip (think large binder clip that offices use) in my front pocket. Holds ID, CC, debit, insurance, cash folded in half. Other front pocket holds keys (2) and cell phone. NOTHING goes in my back pockets. I'm pretty boney and it would be uncomfortable plus it's safer IMO.
Quick google image search found exactly what I use (not mine):
Another benefit is that I keep my cards on one side, cash on the other with my ID facing out. So if someone needs to see my ID, I don't even have to remove the clip.
A funny thing about my homemade clip. My dad came cross-country for my wedding and at dinner I pulled out the clip to pay. He got a funny look and asked how long I've had it. I told him 6 months (this was 5 years ago) and he pulls his out and it's the exact same clip. Pretty funny.
Also, another tip for keeping money safe, I keep my cash folded in half with the smallest bills on the outside. That way nobody ever sees a bigger bill than they need to. No reason to go flipping past a $100 to hand a girl scout (or homeless guy) $5.
I am closest to Clay in the lightness of what I bring but for me it is just a rubber band.
Under that rubber band is my Driver's Lisence on the outside. This makes the DL easy to show by just presenting the whole thing and never really taking it out of the rubber band. On the flip side of the stack is debit/credit. In the middle are a few important items like AAA card and Insurance card. If needed, important reciepts are folder to a like size and placed somewhere in the middle of the stack. Later those reciepts are moved to more proper perminent locations.
Added benifit. The rubber band provides a little "traction and grip" keeping the whole thing from wanting to fall out of pockets.
Cash is folder in half with small bills on the outside. Cash is not added to the rubber band, rather cash just resides in the pocket next to the stack.
The rubber band stack and cash all reside in the front right pocket. Coins (if present) also reside in right pocket. Keys (total of 4) and cell phone kept in left front pocket. Nothing typically in rear pockets (maybe the ocassional paper or pamphlet.)
I am very happy with the minimalism and the efficiency of this system. I really cant tell you the last time I had a real wallet. When I did have them, I just kept trying to get smaller and smaller. I think elliminating the wallet for me really signalled the success of that campaign.
We need to wear our id around our necks at work so I have this. The badge goes on one side, my id, license, aaa card on the other. When I'm not at work it fits in my front pocket

The safety word is "Yellow"
^I beleive those are actually called "clamps", not "clips". Betcha can't clamp one that size to your earlobe, and leave it on for a minute.
That is exactly what my dad use to use to carry his money and the like around.
I have a wallet that's about halfway between a regular wallet and a money clip.
It has a license holder on one side, credit card slots on the other and you stick cash in the middle, like a money clip. It doesn't fold at all.

It's called a "binder clip" - I'm looking at a box of them as I type this. I actually started with that for a couple weeks but didn't like the sharp-ish corners so I went looking on the web and found my money clip. Mine is in natural titanium, not the tacky colors.

As a joke for my wedding, I considered getting several of the binder clips engraved as a gift for my groomsmen, but then I figured it would be just throwing money away on a joke so I passed...
I prefer a wallet. While the credit cards and ID are potentially more valuable to a thief, cash has universal appeal. With a wallet, few can see if there's anything in there. It doesn't catch their attention.
Flashing cash, small bills or large, any time you pull the thing out, to anyone in line of sight, would seem a bad idea.
While I've never used a money clip, I'm very proud of my wallet and feel the need to share with you all because I know you'll like it:
My wallet, found at a local art gallery type place, is made from the sidewall of an old hoosier tire. It's REALLY cool! The hippies and the car folks love it. Recycling and racing...it sums me up pretty well, in that respect.

Clem,
you really need to post a picture of said wallet. It sounds even cooler than the ones made from duct tape.

I pared down to one of these from a big bifold about a year ago, and I really like it. I carry my license, 4 credit/debit cards, 3 membership cards, and I still have a little room for a couple receipts or business cards.
I would consider a combination iphone case/wallet if anyone made a good one. All the ones I've seen are either too huge to put in your pocket, or totally inadequate as a full time wallet.
like that... is there a brand name ?

Hey, I've cut back! A lot!
I know women who have a change of shoes in their bags.
Hilarious Dune reference... haven't read that since I was 14, but I still know what you're talking about. I once thrust my hand into my purse, where it encountered a stiff brush... which drove a couple of the bristles under my fingernail bed right into the freaking cuticle. Cleaned out my purse right berkleying quickly, I'll tell you.
I carry berkeleying rubber band banks in my pocket cuz I'm baller like that!
Trifold wallet with a chain. Sane wallet since about 99. Haven't lost it yet! (see"chain")

I carry a leather wallet jammed full of every receipt and ticket stub I've ever had since about 2005. I also always seem to have an uncomfortable amount of loose change. What do you guys with money clips do about coins?
You guys with wallet problems need to 1) get rid of all the old receipts and other junk taking up space, and 2) stop wearing your pants so tight. When you sit down you should be able to push it over to the side a little so you're not sitting directly on it.
