"Tanooki may be just a 'suit' in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur," PETA reps wrote on its "Mario Kills Tanooki" site. The site includes a (relatively gruesome) desktop game, where a skinned tanuki chases Mario, who is dripping blood, across a familiar landscape of pipes, blocks, and gold coins.
Just to be clear, the PETA game was designed by the organization, not Nintendo. The actual Mario game does not include any blood nor skinning. Players receive the Tanooki suit after collecting special leaves.
A: No they aren't. Nothing with valuable fur is skinned alive, Peta has tried to pass this horseE36 M3 off for years as truth.
B: If the suit is made by collecting leaves(as it always has been) then it's either fake fur or nothing to do with the dogs in the first place.
C: Nintendo should sue the crap out of Peta just for being annoying.
I'm suing Nintendo. I skinned a Tanooki, donned it's fur, and jumped off of a building, and it didn't help me fly at all!
Next thing you know, they'll start letting you kill animated people in video games.

Should have made it out of leaves.
E: Something I just thought of, where was all the peta outrage at red dead redemption? A game that had you going around shooting and skinning animals, yet I don't remember one peep from them about it.
I'm a member of PETA...People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

Can still fly with a cape... plus it'd probably be awful warm careening about in a raccoon fursuit.
you know.. I am all for what PETA stands for... in theory. I see no reason to be cruel to anything or anybody.. but they are such wacko nut jobs in getting their message out they have become a parody of themselves
Yeah, in the same way I...like...The NRA. I like guns and the ability to shoot them, but those dudes are just wack-o-loons.

PETA is full of mental patients, plain and simple.
PETA are a bunch of attention whores and hypocrites. They euthanize 85% of the pets it takes into its shelters.
