Also note that in this particular intersection, 90+ percent of the traffic drives through there daily, so its not like they were surprised or anything.

Hope it isn't a tendency but I saw a maneuver today that I have never seen before and hope never to see again. Thankfully some drivers were paying attention or it could have been a big mess.
I was the 3rd car back in the left lane at a traffic light. Road is 2 lanes each way with left turn lanes at the intersection. The traffic light allows the left turn lane to turn then turns red and lets the thru lanes go.
When the light for the thru lanes turned green the front car in my lane (thru lane not left turn lane) made a U turn across in front of the traffic in both lanes coming from the other direction and then back into the left lane going the opposite direction from me.
The guy in the left lane coming the other direction had to dodge twice. First when she cut across his front and then when she cut him off to get in the left lane!!

I've been known to do crazy E36 M3 like that, in Detroit, at 4am when nobody is around or cares.
This has turned out to make me start laughing because it's all so true. I agree with the state of Pennsylvania being the worst. I hate seeing those plates when driving in the mid-Atlantic because you know it's going to be a bad time.

NASCAR must have thrown a yellow.

I'm guilty of staying a bit over a car length off of the vehicle in front of me at a stop light, mainly because I'm paranoid about being rear ended by the mindless smartphone zombies and like an escape route.
How about a semi truck pulling a flatbed trailer with a backhoe on it, on a 4 lane divided highway driving about 40 mph uphill and 85 mph downhill, taking up both lanes because he didn't have enough control over the truck, and getting about 4 feet from the back of cars in front of him. I have no idea what he was thinking other than that he would happily kill anyone that caused him to use his brakes more than if he was the only one on the road. I called and explained my displeasure with his driving to the company whose name was on the side of the truck, I doubt they did anything though.
There is an entrance ramp onto the freeway here, with an exit to the next street about half a mile down the road. There are constantly old guys who don't see any reason to accelerate to merge, since they are going to be pulling off right away.
I often wish to yell at old, patient people, since they are causing many, many people to slowdown, the accelerate.
Its environmentally unfriendly to go slowly. They are killing the Earth.
it happened again today ... there's a split of I 40 and I 240 as you approach Asheville from the east .... many MANY people will try to pass everyone in the rt. lane to gain a few car lengths as they take the 240 exit ...
today someone tried that ... I'm in my F150 and this tool in his tarted up Eclipse ... passed several cars and I could see they were planning on squeezing in front of me (they were going to have to slam on the brakes to make this work) ..
for some reason I reverted to my younger more shiny happy persony days, and speed up ... he kept edging over trying to intimidate me LOL with his oh-so-sweet Eclipse ...
finally I laid on the horn .... he gave up ... had to come to almost a stop to wait for all the cars that wouldn't let him in .. + all the cars that then were stacked up behind him in the left lane that were laying on their horns ...
then when he finally got on to the exit, he tried to swerve in and out to make up for lost time ... he ended up passing me 3 times .... (I never changed lanes LOL )
damn I can't stand jackasses on the highway (or anywhere else for that matter) ... which includes the way I acted ... I usually back off and let these shiny happy people in ... but this one just pasted 10+ cars, and for some reason it ticked me off
