In reply to Trans_Maro: i never complained it was to hard, as noted below.
In reply to Trans_Maro: nope not hammered, enjoy your latte an no i was not complaining but thanks for your concern.
In reply to RX Reven': now there is a use for the pool i had not thought of, i never complained about it, just frustrated that the money could have been better spent.
In reply to z31maniac: so never get mad when somebody makes a joke about banging your wife or daughter or mother or whatever dude......glad you can take it all on the chin or butt cheek.
I like those endless pools. I may look into one next year. As somebody who does not believe in Air Conditioning, a pool is a great way to cool off quickly. That said, I barely used my above ground one this year, it never got warm enough for me (water above 90 degrees)

He didn't make a joke about banging your wife. He made a joke about the pool boy banging your wife.
Seriously. Lighten up.
It's the berkeleying internet.

Hmm... interesting... and a good point.

Berking A, man... berking A....

Never.... gonna... berkeleying... happen...
...well... maybe the M3...
This man:
Who built a submarine in 1870 is upset over the associated costs of owning a swimming pool.
Dave mentioned that the poolboy (who is in the good captain's employ) may, in fact, be boffing Nemo's wife and collecting a wage at the same time. Dave also mentioned that it was ironic that a "grown ass man" was bested by such a small body of water.
I mentioned that it was a little sad that a man who built a machine which was able to "Master the seas" as he put it was incapable of running a pool skimmer.
Captain Nemo, unable to see the humour in all this was upset by our commentary and was quick to anger as is his nature: Captain Nemo: I am not what is called a civilized man, Professor. I have done with society for reasons that seem good to me. Therefore, I do not obey its laws.
I'd love an in ground pool and eventually will get one...with the obligatory hot tub. In the meantime, I've had an 18' above ground for the past 3 summers. For the money, they're TEH E36 M3. My costs:
Pool - $0. CL find.
Filter system - $180 - Salt water system on clearance at Wal-Mart.
Water - $225. I have a well and didn't want to burn my pump out trying to fill the thing. So at start up, I had the local fire company fill it.
From those initial start up costs, my operating costs are minimal. I have a solar cover which helps keep it decently warm. I go through $40 worth of salt other balancing chemicals. I drain it in the winter to right at the pump intake and in the spring I use my well to top it off some, and natural rain takes care of the rest.
Maintenance during the summer isn't bad at all. Maybe 20 minutes per week. It's just the initial opening and closing that take a few hours. I just closed ours yesterday. This year I don't even know I'm putting a winter cover on. My past experience with them has proven that they're fairly useless. Not going to lie and say they're as much fun as a full size in ground pool, but our family gets a ton of use out of what we have.

I have done with society for reasons that seem good to me (no doubt). Therefore, I do not obey its laws. (except the laws of gravity that i employ when taking out the trash at the jiffy lube where i work as a "professional restoration mechanic"
now that is almost funny and fairly well written for "professional restoration Mechanic"

It is an exerpt from a silly paragraph that has been reworked and used for years. There's a version of it here:

Sadly, the original author of the paragraph was serious.
