The trailer hitch ball on the Rondo had rusted in place. It was taking out shins, so I decided to soak it in PB blaster and get it out...eventually. Damn me for waiting! The wife (whom I love dearly) mistook reverse for drive and backed the Rondo into the front of the Fiesta with enough force to put a nice big hole in the front end. It happens...but I was not a happy camper. Had I got the ball out when I promised I would, the impact would have been much less damaging. Dang it, now I have to replace the front end. Grrrrrrrr.

Sounds like SWMBO needs a driver's education.....
Had to chain a ball onto a big tree before to get one out of a truck.
Is it just a bumper cover or did she get metal, or all the way to the rad?
What does BMW have to do with this?

Put this little experience in you pocket like a poker chip, to be used at a later date.
Smile and nod.
Sounds like she is getting you a mountune front mount intercooler for Christmas. Leave the hole in the bumper, you won't feel as guilty when you rallyx it
Previous owner of my answer had a trailer hitch punch through the front bumper cover. I bought it that way (took a grand off the price because of it) and bent all the pieces back into place, drilled a few strategic holes and used zip ties like stitches to hold it together.
It looks cool, took a couple of hours, and people think it's kinda neat.
I'll be the morbid one. Any pics of the damage?
The damage is actually very minimal, but the entire front end of the car is one huge piece of plastic, so it has to be replaced. Since it is a lease, I don't want the cracks to spread and get worse so I am going to fix it. I have never made a claim on my car insurance, so it looks like it won't be too painful.
As for the wife, let's just say that she's lucky that she is the only person stupid enough to have sex with me.
Sorry to hear about the damage--- that always sucks.
A couple of years ago I was on a business trip. I usually drop my dog off at the folks house and they babysit him while I'm out of town. While I was gone, I parked my 1997 M3 in my folks driveway. (Dad likes seeing it there, as he bought the car nearly new, and will still drive it occasionally)
While I was gone, my mother backed out of the garage, didn't look very closely, and ran into the side of my beloved, virgin metal / paint BMW. I was pretty upset......as was she.
I gave her a bit of flack, but then she had the perfect comeback......... "So....shall we make a list of all the things of mine you've ruined over the years?"
That's when I just shut up and called the insurance guy.......
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/buying-maintenance/news/a24602/ford-racing-really-wants-you-to-mod-ecoboost-engines/?click=_hpTrnsprtr_1 have you told her that she's getting you a warranty friendly ecu reflash for Christmas?
The reason there's a pin on the drawbar is so you can take it off after you are done with it... That way it won't rust in place.
There is actually an unenforced law up here requiring you to remove the drawbar when its not in use. My shins support this law.
I always remove my hitch when not in use.

If I find the right E46 M3, the license plate will read NO E36 M3.
With a GRM bumper sticker discreetly affixed to the lower corner of the bumper.
So did the impact loosen the reciever up?
My wife sideswiped my car backing out of the garage last year, so yes, this should definitely become a nice bargaining chip to be used at a later date .
Hive opinion - better to pay this out of pocket to avoid the insurance company? We paid for her incident last year; it seems like the insurance co's love to find anything to jack rates up anymore.
When it's damage from one car in the household to another, never tell the insurance company. When I was an officer I was leaving my apartment with my radio on, heard an all units call and backed into my neighbors minivan, center mass of the side, at a solid rate of speed, it was 3:30 am and they had parked in a position in which that had never parked, but it was still without a doubt ultimately my fault.
I sent a uni down to put on a note on the minivan after the armed robbery suspect had been apprehended. Department offered to pay for the damages to her van, which were substantial, but she never filed nor complained about it. Ironical part is that the suspect had fled on foot to a house on the same block as my apartment, I'm somewhat surprised, and damn lucky, that he didn't hear the radio communication. It would have ultimately been faster to proceed to the location on foot but transport back to the car would not have been fun, and there's a nice level of protection having your cruiser available.

WHY ARE YOU READING MY MIND?
We'll see who gets one first (but mine will be an e36 m3 making the plate slightly less clever).
It's okay, I'm reconsidering the Cruze option, because Cruze LTs are cheap and a $100 HPTuners license can get me all the axle-snapping power I want.
