I don't want to argue about it, so I'll close with this-

I personally sent the email message through our mass-mailing software. When you click the image or the links, it takes you to RacingJunk.com's landing page. I know that I sent it because I was there.

If the box goes to THIS LUCKY READER than no one loses :)

There was honestly almost no one here excited about this contest because we knew we couldn't enter. That box makes my pants tight. If someone on the board wins it be prepared to have several staffers show up at your house to rub against it.

I entered the contest because that box rocks!

If I win, there will be signs proclaiming "box-o-philes will be shot, unless they have a case of really good beer" on the lawn.

And Racing Junk's page says this

"RWM collects personal information from submitted Sweepstakes entries, which may be used in a variety of ways, including customizing features and advertising that appear on the Site. RWM reserves the right to market promotional offers for RWM's network of sites or via third party partners.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the toolbox and I love the idea of the contests, BUT I don't like the idea of having to enter spammable information into someone else's database.

One person wins a prize and everyone else pays the price.

It just seems so unlike the GRM I've grown to trust. Trust is like a soap bubble once popped it can't be put back together so you'd better hope Racing Junk doesn't burst your bubble as it could do serious damage to future events, offerings, etc.

carguy, you didn't have to fill out that section, it was in it's own little box. Skip right over it. I just did it and skipped that part and it still went through fine.

"It could do serious damage to future events?" Dude, seriously? You're the one guy here who's got a problem with it. Everyone else seems happy to have the opportunity to win a toolbox. I entered another one last year and haven't noticed any spam bombardment. RELAX.

Yeah, but this is MORE toolbox. Heck, I've got four of them in the garage plus the magic extend-o-box that I use on the road. And I still want more.

I'm prepared for you guys to show up. I'll have my wife make some cookies.

...and back on topic...

Seriously, just use a free online account to sign up for contests. I have 5 email addresses between my home internet service, yahoo, and gmail. Just depends on what I am doing.

Carguy? Calm down. Go back to the site, fill out your info and at the bottom, look closely at your options, select the one that makes sense. I personally joined the site because it appears to be a great alternative to eBay when looking for cars and parts that I can't afford.

Now, go look at the information you're providing to them. That is all mostly public information. Spam? Really? Don't use your main e-mail addy, sign up for a free one from hotmail, yahoo, etc. plus most e-mail hosts have spam filters in place to reduce this issue. Now, spam via snail-mail is the heroin drip that is killing the USPS while keeping them alive at the same time, so I have no problem with that since it costs the idiot companies money.

I got home from work, eat dinner, checked my email, entered a cool contest to win a kick-ass toolbox, checked the GRM message board, read this thread, went back and entered carguy123 in the drawing with my address to double my chances.....just kidding about the last part.

I saw the banner a few days ago and entered. Too bad it's WAY smaller then the KRL7002A box with the black and gold Firebird graphics on it I already have, but It will look good next to it instead of the ancient Crapsman next to it currently. :)

Neat graphic on the box, but isn't that a silly price for a toolbox ? I could go over to Lowe's and buy that big mother stainless one they sell, with the fridge and stereo and get a local sign shop to do the graphic. For what I do a Snap-On box is way overpriced. I'll probably still enter, though. There's no such thing as "too many toolboxes" !

Sorry, I am sort of with carguy on this. We went through this a few years ago when someone thought it would be a good idea to share our addys with interesting third parties. Fortunately, someone at GRM rethought the idea. The box might be nice, but I value what little of my privacy remains. I will pass on entering, but I hope someone will enjoy their new box.
