Can anyone recommend a good free mp3 recorder? These are mp3 files completely separate from itunes. I've looked at a few free recording sites but after researching them, they seem to secretly download malware to your computer also

On older versions of Windows there is a built in sound recorder that can save the files in MP3 format. Otherwise Audacity is a decent program that does a lot more than you are asking.

Thanks. Well my 'puter must be too new? Wonder why newer versions of Windows wouldn't have it when the older ones did? Are mp3 files considered old technology now? I'll take a look at Audacity.

Btw, I still have a bunch of casette tapes I still actually listen to lol.

Well, sound recorder is present on my Win7 box (I just checked), however Audacity is probably the better choice in the long run as it'll do everything you want and then some.
