berkeleying amazing!
Best Bean skit
The man definitely has good taste in cars. I mean a V16 Phantom...and he actually drives his Mclaren.
At one point, Mr. Atkinson was a contributor to CAR magazine. One of the stories he had printed, years ago, concerned the "trials and tribulations" of custom ordering a supercar. I must confess, tho, that I forget if it was a Ferrari or an Aston.
I prefer his roles in the Britcom series Black Adder. The last set, it takes place in WW I, is a must for anyone who has ever served in the Armed Forces.
I like the man... was awesome seeing him on TG...
but fun story of Mr bean... my dad honestly looks a lot like the man... so much so that when my dad was in Italy back in '98 he was at an Italian orphanage.... there where a group of kids off to the side giggling... then one of them pointed at my dad and said "Mr. Bean"
I still don't think my dad has seen anything of Mr. Bean...
that being said... the man was far more intelligent then the characters he plays :)

Hell Yeah! Black Adder the Second was always my favorite. The Fourth was pretty darn good too, though. The Fourth manages to be simultaneously hilarious and kind of sickening with how willing the noble officers are to throw away the lives of the enlisted men.
Story I heard about he origins of Mr. Bean, is that the BBC broadcasts to countries around the world and wanted a comedy that could be shown pretty much everywhere. Humor tends not to translate well across cultures. Mr. Bean was the comedy they came up with that people around the world could understand and relate to.
Rowan Atkinson did a cool documentary about his love of cars in 1991 titled "The Driven Man" I still have the VHS.
Oh look here it is on youtube

His character in 'Rat Race' was pretty funny too. It's a pretty corny movie but still entertaining, even if it's a rip off of 'It's a Mad mad mad mad World'.

Also stars Hugh Laurie (Dr. House - yes, he's actually English) as a moronic corporal. Very funny indeed.
Jeff wrote: It was a great bit on TG. Loved watching him do his lap. Very quick.
And as is typical, even though it was a fast lap it didn't look like one - he's a smooth driver.
Laurie was in Black Adder III as well, playing a moronic Prince. He used the same Black Adder accent (vs. his normal British speaking accent) in an episode of House once, which was probably funnier to those who knew of his past.
Another Atkinson Brit-com to look for is The Thin Blue Line, although he plays more of a 'straight' charactor in that series.
Loooking forward to seeing him on TG, although we'll probably just wait until the BBCA version arrives.
