Having listened and respected Dave Ramsey a few years back until it became too repetitive..

MMM is a refreshing voice on the topic of personal finance. Does anybody else read this blog?

I read it from time to time. I'm very glad his approach worked for him but I find some of his Ideas very difficult to contemplate implementing in my life. I find the approach Ramsey takes to be a bit more motivational for the beginer.

Another one I like is enemyofdebt although it's gotten a little big with now 5-6 contributing authors. It makes the content higher but it doesn't come from as direct of a vehicle if it was just Brad like it used to be at the begining.

I want to find one now that would deal with getting beyond the Debt and into early investing. There is a lot out their for Advanced investors but I'm at the end of the Ramsey steps and need to get beyond 401K and into guidance on Roth's, Stocks, Bonds and other investment vehicles.

I read MMM from time to time, and I do admire his philosophy and dedication, to me retirement means sitting in a hammock and not riding a bike to a carpentry job using pawn shop tools and wear goodwill clothes.

To each their own, but MMM rubs me kind of as a handy hipster.

Still, I will keep reading his blog, it's fairly entertaining.

There are some good ideas there, definitely. However, their views on cars are quite different from ours :). And Ive noticed as the forums gain more members, it's less a out idea discussion and more about preaching "the way". Kind of like how the most rabid Ramsey converts scream at you for debt :) .

I've read it, but I think it's a bit too extreme.

My own personal opinion is finding the reasonable balance between enjoying life and saving for the future/emergencies.

What good does it do me, if I lock down for the next 10 years, pay off the house, never go on vacation, go out to eat a few times a year, etc.......then get terminal cancer at 41?

Hell I could get hit by a semi on the way to work Monday and never see anyone again.

I think the MMM car advice leans toward GRM then jumps way past the shark. I do think that people can benefit from considering the benefits of a shorter commute. I'd love to have an extra 1:45 at home every day. Just can't swing it.
