when the show started i thought "EvilCorp" was just something they were calling the company behind their back so to speak. It was kind of amusing that it was actually the company name.

The last 2 episodes pretty much made me want to watch the whole season over from the beginning.

OK, so now you are confirming my suspicion that the lame wealth redistribution story is not Mr Robot's real agenda, and that I should pay attention for more clues as to what that might really be.

Do not confirm or deny this. But I will be disappointed if there is not a second agenda at play.

I'd love to meet him in person to see how he actually is, while I don't want to say he is a one trick pony (he is REALLY GOOD), he is definitely type-cast as the roll is somewhat similiar (except he is dumb) in The Pacific.

He actually explains in one of the very first episodes that he subliminally changes everything to Evil Corp.

The viewing experience, as far as I can tell, is to be a removed 3rd person stream of consciousness from Elliot. I am on episode 8 and I am having a hard time telling how crazy he is, what is real and what is not. Has a very "fight club" feel to it. The show does frustrate me a little bit, which may be the point, as I sometimes want to punch Elliot and/or the director for the drawn out staring contests.

I don't want to spoil anything for those who are catching up, but there's no reason to be confused by the revelations of the 2nd-to-last episode...the answer to the questions that might raise are pretty much spelled out in the final episode. Specifically in the cafe scene and the video of the pier incident.

I didn't binge-watch the whole first season, so I'm sure I missed a lot of the nuances. It was pretty good, and yeah, I appreciated the more-or-less realistic computer stuff (not that I'm an expert).

It was 100% realistic, however since they didn't use ridiculous fantasy technology as a crutch like most shows with hacking do, they gave Elliot the superpower of having incredible luck.

There are a couple of situations where a wildly unusual setup turns out to be exactly what Elliot needs to break into a system - the prison wifi setup, and the thermostat at Iro...er, Steel Mountain come to mind.

He has a bit too easy of a time guessing people's passwords as well, reminding me of the ridiculous riddles in the '60s Batman show that the Dynamic Duo somehow figured out anyway. Still, I have a vastly easier time suspending my disbelief over these, so I won't complain too much.

I like everything but the "EvilCorp" and "FSociety"

I wish they could have thought of more realistic, less hokey names.

I don't like the "meeting place" and the band of hackers that don't really seem to hack very much. I liked the earlier representation of Elliot's simple hacking, just collecting information on people.

FSociety fits right in with any real-life hacker group name, nothing hokey about it.

Evilcorp is a bit of a stretch, but I could see it happening in real life, either as a joke (see Hulu's slogan) or as an open act of spite (see Martin Shkreli).

I've noticed recently that when watching Youtube videos, instead of the typical 30 second commercial for some product preceding the video, instead they want me to watch an 8 minute commercial for Mr. Robot...no thanks, I'm not watching a commercial that's longer than the video.

The first episode parts 1 and 2 are out now. Just watched the first part and, uh, buffering the second. Anyone get the 2 online easter eggs in the first 12 minutes? I hope there's more to cs30 than is readily apparent, that would be a bit of a letdown...

You do know it's not actually called EvilCorp, right? It's E Corp (with the Dell E). The hackers always call it EvilCorp the way some people always call Microsoft Micro$haft.

It seems that it isn't called EvilCorp in public, but its executives also call it EvilCorp in private. The tilted E is probably meant to look more like the Enron E. (Edit: Also, they use the domain evil-corp-usa.com for their infrastructure, that's definitely in-canon)

BTW, went back to S01E01 to look for any clues on cs30 but I don't think there's anything more to discover. What we're actually looking at is the backup version of cs30, and it has a completely different set of open ports to the hacked cs30. The password for it seems to be 10 characters, last 4 numeric, and its website renders nicely in lynx. That's all I got.

Since this thread came about, I've now watched all of season 1 and what it out there for season 2 except the latest episode that I will watch tonight. I haven't read this whole thread, but all I want to say is that I pretty much liked season 1, but the big surprise was what I guessed after watching the first episode with only a small twist, so that was disappointing. Season 2 so far has been pretty terrible and I don't see the show making it to season 3 at this point.

It doesn't look like they intend to have a Season 3, at the rate they're killing off major characters. Most of Season 2 so far has been like a spinoff show that focuses on Elliot's mental problems and just ties back into the previous plot at certain points. After seeing the latest one I think this detour is coming to an end though.

I've watched the first 3 episodes of season 2 (also all of season 1 last year). I had some issues with s1 but I have way more with s2 so far. I'd have to agree that s3 looks unlikely, and I'm not sure I would watch it even if they have one.

SWMBO told me she read where many people in the business cautioned the creator about the direction of season 2, but he ignored them and did what he wanted. He should've listened.

S1 was great in my opinion, but S2, i'm not feeling it too many flashbacks. if you wanna do backstories do it first or not at all, its annoying to only get like 1/3 of the story progression per episode.

I actually really like season 2 so far. It is really letting us soak in the aftermath of season 1. Many shows gloss over this part, conveniently jumping to the next action. I like the struggling to find a new direction. The total fear that everyone is sharing. The computer stuff will return but without the larger story the computer stuff would seem contrived.

I am very fascinated with the Angela arc. Where is her head? Is she insane as well now? Focused? Bumbling about?

Huge plot twist in the latest episode! So it looks like Ray and his gang must be in cahoots with the staff to get access to that computer. Hard to explain the dog though.

I've been trying to watch the second season on USA's website (can log in to view through my DirecTV account), but it's the single worst, buggiest video player I've ever seen (awful on both Firefox and Safari).

Try Torreting.com Just use your favorite bittorrent client to download with. It looks like all the episodes are still there.
