So for the past 2 days my 4 year old son has been bugging me to install a shifter like my REPU,and RX-7 in his little plastic car. It has been non-stop about this and also painting it orange to match my old dear departed RX-3 SP. Well this morning I figured out a way to make it happen. Here are a few pics to prove how GRM we are. My fab skills are severely lacking, but I did the best I could with what little skills and materials I have.

That is a 79/80 SA chassis RX-7 shifter mounted with wood screws. I know not the best, but he is happy. Now I have to paint it orange later when the weather gets better.

That's great ! In another 12 years make sure he learns to use a real one.
He wants me to mount pedals as well. I have a pedal set from an RX-7,but I don't have a clue how to mount it when there is no floor,or firewall on the car. He will sit in either my REPU,or RX-7 for hours making engine noises, and shifting. I wonder why my transmissions wear on so often?

Can you build a firewall out of cheap plywood?
Truth be told the car is way too small for him,but he loves it. Even if I could mount the pedals I don't think he could use them as he barely fits in the thing as it is. He calls it his "Turbo" for some reason.
Is all i can think of right now lol
That is great and kudos to you for being the "cool".

That's awesome
. A budding gearhead, for sure.
Anyone want to hotlink a pic or two if possible? I don't know how to do it.

Updated with pics after spray bomb paint job by 4 year old. I think he may have skipped a few steps in the prep process.
