I've commented about work my brother does with animals. As I I've indicated before he runs a small rural Veterinary Clinic and employs two women full-time and one part-time. He pays them well and they are very loyal but being such a small operation cannot afford to provide them with health or dental insurance.
Last week he made a deal with his dentist, a big horse person, to handle all of his Veterinary needs in exchange for discounted work on all of his employees. One of his best employees had lost over half of her adult teeth due to an accident when she was a teenager and never could afford to have the work done. brother is picking up the tab out of his pocket for everything that has to be done, including full replacement for the one employee.
Never ceases to amaze me how caring he is.
Sounds like he is one fantastic person.
Only wish there were more people like him. We should all use him for inspiration!
I truly believe that you reap what you sow,I believe he will enjoy the benefits of his actions.
I had to read that a couple of times to realize he wasn’t sending his people to a horse dentist. That’s a good deal.
In reply to Wally :
LOL...no. People dentist. Between 3 women employees initial guess is 4 cavities, 2 root canals,, 2 crowns, and rebuild the one persons dental replacing/implanting 15 teeth.
He sprung it on them surprising them with shutting down the clinic one afternoon and Hauling them all to the dentist. They really do seem to appreciate his efforts. They're all working mothers who spend their money on their families and not themselves.
A real "horse trader" working a deal for horse health in exchange for people health.
Thanks for the update. I haven't posted on your discussions about your brother, but I enjoy reading them.
Running a small business like a veterinary clinic is really tough. I bought one in 2007, right before the recession took the bottom out of the economy here in Florida.
In reply to Floating Doc :
Yeah, it is truly a tough way to make a living especially dealing with large animal, Dairy clients, beef clients Etc. Large animals is physically daunting at times from what I've observed going on calls with him. I've seen him palpate 150-200 cows in an afternoon and then have to argue with a farmer over a $600 bill.

Im pretty sure all that is going on in my mouth right now.
In reply to Ovid_and_Flem :
I don’t know what palpate is but I can’t think of anything I’d do to a cow for $3.
In reply to Wally :
Palpate is sticking your arm all the way to your shoulder in the uterus of a cow to see if she is pregnant. Not exactly Pleasant.

You’re taking the wrong angle on this Wally. I’m sure there are people out there who would pay way more than $3 to do that to a cow.
I'm imagining Pete's Bovine Brothel.
Pete, pimping out the Piedmontese.
"Pimps Up. Holsteins Down"
I did once see a video out of Germany that was somewhat related.
Wow that's a pretty cool thing to do.
In reply to MazdaFace :
I assume you mean the dentestry part, not what those degenerates are going on about.

How that horse became a dentist, I don't know.
