the wall behind has since been decorated with lots of stuff I got from PRI and the Rolex. Found that house radio with no speakers at a garage sale for $5...it has an aux input, usb hookup, and plays mp3 CDs. The 2 6x9s plus box, was a college project to put some extra speakers in the back of my firebird. The mullets rock sticker is self explanatory for being in the back of an F-body.
nice, reminds me of the stereo in our auto tech shop, a wood box with speakers and a head unit

I got a Philips Shoqbox for $20 a couple of years ago; it was a refurb from Philips, but for $20 I thought it was a great deal!

It looks stupid (I blame the Apple-white finish) but it's got a built in lithium rechargeable battery, antenna input, headphone-style input, and packs a pretty good punch for its size. This definitely won't fill up a big shop for all to hear, but for a two-car garage it's adequate for background music. More importantly, I can easily carry it with me wherever I go. Last night I was working under the hood of a car that is parked by the curb for a couple hours in the rain. The radio rested on the wiper cowl while I worked. I bring it with me when I go to the U-Pull yard so I've got some tunes if I have to spend an hour or three pulling something involved like an engine or a subframe. It is also really robust, never gets broken when I've dropped it, tossed it in my toolbag, etc. Long story short, it can go with me wherever I go and last about 16 hours at full volume without a charge. When I'm in the shop I usually leave it plugged into the wall and plug my phone into it to stream Pandora.
I got this thing just because it had a built in rechargeable battery, thinking I'd only use it occassionally. When this thing dies, I'll definitely be buying a similar device, being small and portable allows me to have music around much more often than I used to.

Pawn shops and RCA-to-1/8" cables with an iPod. Voila.
I got a refurbed Dewalt for cheap that works quite well.

In the garage at my parents house, I have a box with a sub, 4 6X9s, and a head unit.
When I was in college, I removed an old Grundig car stereo from one of my cars, mounted it in a wooden box with a Datsun antenna screwed to the back, added a cheap 300 watt, 10 channel graphic equalizer, a Radio Shack 120v converter and a pair of huge Yamaha home stereo speakers. I wish I had a photo of it. The box and the speakers are long gone, but I still have the rest of it in a pile in my basement.
Hmmm......possible weekend project.

Old clock radio that crackles every time you move one of the controls. But once you set it it works fine. Found it in someones basement...or maybe thrift store.

I turn the setro in the house up really loud. I can hear it in the garage.
My wife doesn't like that much though.
My work setup consists of an old pc hooked into an even older receiver which in turn feeds a pair of speakers from the age of big hair. Right channel only pictured. Gigantic mess also pictured.
Bryce, if you like Pandora you should try LastFM.

i found one in the trash covered in drywall mud and dust. took it apart, cleaned it up, and have been using it since the summer. helps that i have tons of 18v dewalt tools and batteries.
