A JetBlue flight attendant accused of cursing out a passenger on an airplane public-address system, grabbing some beer from the galley and exiting on an emergency slide has been released on bail in New York.

Department of Correction spokesman Stephen Morello told the Associated Press that he doesn't have details on who posted the $2,500 bail for Steven Slater. He has been charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said the endangerment charge came as a result of Slater opening the emergency exit door and deploying the emergency chute after landing.

I can identify with the dude. Flight attendants catch hell for no good reason every day.. I did much the same thing in 1957 when I was 3 years old on a DC-3 while in flight, but that's another story to save for a later time.

How is it tresspassing? Wasn't he asked to come on board simply by being employied by said airline?

Makes me think of Scarface quits.

They're saying once he got off the plane he was trespassing on the tarmac.

I'm heading to you tube to look for a song about the male stewardess (ok, flight attendant) that will turn him into a folk here. Sort of a "take this job and shove it" for 2010. Then there will be t-shirts, just like "don't tase me bro".

As far as the HPOA - that was funny.

I understand the guys frustration with his job and his anger to the passenger. I can even understand his actions.

What I don't understand is the making of him into a hero.

His actions might not have been responsible or the "smart" thing to do, but most people wish they had the balls to do the same thing. For me, it's the double-fisted beer laden inflatable epic slide move. Seems like something Chuck Norris would do.

It was not a guy. News reports are saying a woman got up before the plane stopped and tried to get her carry-on down. He went and told her to sit down. Her bag hit him and then she cursed at him.
