I have been sitting at my desk at my office crying for the last 30 minutes. I have been slamming hand into the desk over and over again and now it is bloody.
I have written and deleted a few paragraphs about people who aren't taking this seriously. No need for that now. Those who don't care, don't care. They won't change.
May not be able to drive home yet. Too upset. My hand is soo bloody from slamming it against the desk. I may have to call somebody to drive me home.
Dallas is a hotspot. We were averaging 1,000 infections a day up until recently and there is a lawsuit to open all the bars again. Teenagers are having Covid infection parties. Some tattooed mullet guy in Fort Worth was on TV this morning bragging about all the warehouse parties he organized since the shutdown and then demanded that they open up all the bars. This place is crazy.
I just want to get out.
Oooo, that is not good news. Best of luck to your mother.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Thanks.
Sorry to here this , I hope your Mom is OK.
hope all are okay.
Uhaul just loaded up my son's stuff today in a pod to move to Peoria to teach this school year at a university.
An hour ago the school mentioned that 9 kids have Covid on the internet- yikes.
Oh Berk, I hope she'll be alright...can you pull her out?

and put her where? Right now she is locked down where I can't even visit her. I haven't seen her in months.
I work every day, and although I am in an empty building I could still risk infecting her.
I just don't know what to say anymore.

Just curious then, how did it get in? It sucks to do everything right, yet still have an issue.
The COVID parties are just dumb, but the "tattoo mullet guy" isn't cruising nursing homes, where was the breakdown? I'd want to know
In reply to Steve_Jones :
Well, our state was sending covid positive patients back into the nursing homes, after they pulled their parents out of them of course. So it's not entirely out of the question.

I wish I was close enough to come get you and give you a ride home and just be there for you.

I'm sorry for the Captain Obvious moment...if it was that easy, you already would have; got it.
Checking Craig's List now for Chevy Suburban's in your area and Goggling "how to modify bumpers to serve as battering rams".

I'm guessing that "tattoo mullet guy" lives in his mother's basement (just until he finishes his awesome novel of course) and she works at the Snowdoggie's mother's nursing home.

For the most part, kids and the young healthy people getting it is good news, not bad news. It is the only way we will ever get to herd immunity.
Kids and young people getting it is still very bad news, just not-as-bad news as old people getting it. Those young people could get lifelong health problems from the infection (a possible early death among them), and there's the option of getting herd immunity from a vaccine - possibly with the need for repeated shots, since it's possible that immunity to COVID19 may only last a few months. Or there's the option of eradicating the virus, no herd immunity necessary, such as with smallpox. People are still not immune to smallpox and it could be devastating if it escaped from a lab.
My disappointment in humanity has been reaching all time highs. People can't be bothered to do something as simple as wearing a mask to help their fellow man. Cant nut up and be brave enough to stay home to battle against a crisis. People saying that's their right and that's more important than x% of people dieing...
I feel for you and understand your frustration. I may not be religious, but I will be thinking of your mother with all the best hopes and wishes for her health.
That sucks. Hopefully with more knowledge at this time they can limit the outbreak. Wishing the best for her and her fellow residents.
Well E36 M3. That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. I too don't understand why people aren't taking this more seriously.

On the other hand, for the elderly and those with existing medical issues, it's a different situation. The nursing homes here locally (four of them) all have outbreaks among patients and staff and it's not good. Are they keeping her in the home or moving her to a hospital? I hope you get to see her soon.

Mrs. Snowdoggie came to pick me up last night. She is the best. Nobody knows me like she does.
When we got home my 120 pound Alaskan Malamute climbed into my lap and slurped my face while his pack of rescue huskies rallied around us. Dogs just seem to know when you need them.
I would like to say that I am all right, but I am still disoriented, confused, angry. I do not understand the insanity of what the world has become.

Mrs. Snowdoggie put in a prayer request to the church this morning. If a higher power can help I need him now.
I hope everything works out for your mother, that's got to be a frightening situation.
Malamutes are such nice dogs, we had a couple when I was a kid.
When my father died, he left my mother with an expensive house on the lake, three mortgages, IRS problems and enough personal debt to choke a horse. A lot of that debt went to take care of my younger sister who was a druggie, was addicted to meth and suicided out while married to her third husband, a drug dealer half her age. There were only two of us. She was the black sheep. I was an Eagle Scout and collected college degrees while she was pregnant at 15 and collected ex-husbands and drug convictions. Did I mention she had two messed up kids who sometimes call me to ask for money and legal advice.
I moved Mom into my house and handled her financial problems. Stood with her through two heart surgeries and one carotid artery surgery. Then about two years ago she was diagnosed with dementia. At the beginning of last year she moved into the nursing home because she needed 24 hour care. I am her guardian, caretaker and power of attorney. I just wanted to give her a good life after the crappy one she lived trying to deal with my druggie sister and alcoholic father. Now this.
The whole situation just sucks.
Did you know that the Chewbacca character was actually based on George Lucas's pet Alaskan Malamute?
