So I have a very small landscape pond in my back yard, mostly for the birds to use. This summer, I have a frog in it. I am at the top of a hill, pretty far from any source of frogs and the pond was mostly frozen solid over the winter. Where did this frog come from??? Can they spontaneously appear???

Any help with a name? I was thinking Enzo.

Frying pan and a little butter?

I don't know where they come from. We had dozens in and around our swimming pool this spring.

It is a sure sign that you have clean water, they are very intolerant of polution. I surmise that he was going courtin' and got sidelined by your pond.

We have tons of frogs and toads that live in our yard, there is a pond down hill from us. I love to listen to them chirp in the evening as I am falling asleep. I call all mine "Frogger" or "Toadie". I am known for my unique naming convention.

Smuggie. He looks very smug, and very satisfied in his new digs.

In my college dorm we had a 55 gallon fish tank that we converted to a terrarium. We had at least 20 frogs in there. It was kinda fun to hear them "sing" at night. The novelty wore off after a bit though, and we ended up releasing them all in the cafeteria during peak lunchtime.

much hilarity ensued

Good one Jay.

I know that wading birds can transfer fish eggs on their legs. I don't see why they couldn't do frog eggs too.

I was expecting Nissan NX2000 content. I am slightly ashamed to admit this.

My uncle and Dad recently purchased a house in Daytona that had been empty for some time. It has an in ground pool. The first day they were at the house trying to renovate it, a group of concerned citizens from the neighborhood stopped by. They asked my Uncle to come over by the pool. It was a slimy green mess completely full of tadpoles. Looked like something from a horror movie. Apparently last years crop of tadpoles all grew up and became frogs at the end of the summer and they swarmed the neighborhood. This years crop was taken care of with an ejector pump and a ton of chlorine.

My Nissan has been parked in mud for a while, so it was no surprise I fin found a Toad under it when I bent down to get the wrench I dropped. Scared the E36 M3 out of me, but then we got along quite nicely.

We have a few frogs show up in early summer. Kind of odd since we don't have any water within frog-hopping distance. I'm thinking of putting in a small but suitable habitat for them.
