still looking (albeit not that hard) for a Taurus Judge … figure that for in house "protection" a shot-gun is what I want .. but I don't want the unwieldiness of a long gun .. so 410 buckshot, six rounds at close range … if that doesn't do the trick, then I doubt that a larger cal. or more rounds will help me much
Make sure you get to toy around with the Judge. Some people don't like the way it fits the hands. Comfort should be a top priority.

I've fired one (don't remember which version though) and it was fine

.45LC out of the Judge will pack a lot more power than a .410 shot shell.

Consider S&W's version as well.
I was looking at an XDS we had in the shop came with tons of extra mags. It just never felt right in my hand. But then I am big enough I conceal my full size SIG P220. Tiff on the other hand is so small she has a hard time concealing a Ruger LCP. She loves shooting the big SIG though.
Bobzilla what extension is that on the Rem? Oh and did you change out the spring? I need to rework mine over the winter into something similar. Right now it has a long 30 inch barrel I believe for shooting clays.

Ever play with a 18" riot gun? They're more maneuverable that they look.

yeah, in the Navy, stationed in Philly for a while (duty section in the armory) .. we had 18" (or there about) riot guns.. the only real problem with them is trying to keep on in the drawer of the nightstand …
actually the most fun we had was with the Jeep mounted, belt feed 12 gauge …. now that was true riot control
Mine leans against the nightstand, perk of having a gun friendly(and safe) roomate and no children running around. Full mag, empty chamber, hammer down, safety off, because I'm paranoid about leaving a chamber loaded and have a E36 M3 record of leaving the safety on when I'm shooting. I'm more likely in the unlikely event of needing it, half awake at 4am, to notice the pump is sloppy and correct that, then fumble with a safety. Its parkerized so I'm not worried about rust from any dust buildup.

+1 This thing is well balanced and very manueverable in the house. Then again, we have 36" doors and a lot of wide open space.

It's an ATI 870 +3 extension. It came with the spring.
