I know, do a search, noob.

But this is easier.

A buzzing while dispensing water is bad, right? I’d call it more of an electronic buzz than a vibration buzz. No noise when the ice maker is filling.

Fridge is French door Whirlpool. It’s probably half a dozen years old. Water filter was just replaced.

In reply to David S. Wallens :

Did the buzzing start with the water filter replacement? How long has it been going on?

Yes, I'm holding out hope that something wacky with trapped air or something is faking you out with the noise.

Failing that, all I can think is the valve that controls flow is dying noisily?

FWIW, the noise seemed to change when I changed the filter.

It’s been going on for maybe two weeks–maybe less.

Have you checked to see if there's a bee hive underneath? :)

Could you be hearing the solenoid valve for the water? 60Hz buzz?

Did some research on this tonight.

If facing the fridge, the filter is located in the upper-right corner.

From what I’m seeing online, the water inlet valve is in the lower-left corner.

The sound was definitely coming from the upper-right.

Could it be the filter, even though I just replaced it?

I removed and replaced the filter.

All now seems good.

The filter on mine is attached to the ceiling of the refrigerator, on the back wall right in the center is a small cover that can be removed.  Inside is a small water pump in a coil of tubing..  Water goes around the coil and is chilled before being dispensed.

Could be something not even loose but a 64th of an inch away from the cover that when cycled just kinda vibrates. I would open the door push pull wiggle, put the door back on and get yourself a glass of water

Mine buzzes.  60hz.  It's an A/C solenoid valve that opens when you press the dispenser.  It buzzes because it's 60hz AC.

Mine gets louder as the filter gets older until it finally starts going "brripbrippbripp" meaning it's time to change the filter.... after resetting the warning light 8 times.

I would bet if you hum that note that it's buzzing, then go turn on your beard trimmer, your flourescent shop light, and your fridge's compressor, they all buzz at the same pitch.

So, an update.

The buzzing got worse, although sometimes it didn’t. Touching/slightly moving the water filter seemed to help. Or were we just thinking that?

Then the water pressure took a hit. It would start normally and then, after two or three seconds, slow to a trickle.

So I called our appliance guy and, today, he replaced the water filter housing. Now all is good.
