I was replacing the horns (one inop) in my rover and noticed the emissions sticker under the hood remarking that it must be tested on a 4wheel syncronized dyno or in an unloaded condition due to the full time AWD.
It also lists it as being a ULEV vehicle.
I had to do a double take. A 2 tone vehicle with a v8 engine that gets 12mpg in city and not much better on the highway by EPA testing is also an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle? I never would have guessed
Do the 2 tone versions have better emissions than the solid color versions?
Lots of bigass vehicles had the ULEV cert, didn't the F150 lightning? Must have been displacement adjusted or something.
It's all about parts per million. Not about parts.
Depends on how big the cats are.

the ratings are adjusted based on vehicle weight aren't they? thought thats how UPS trucks can get rated ULEV
I always got a chuckle when I worked at a certain very expensive boat manufacturing plant, that the 400hp V8's had ULEV stickers stuck on them.
It's not about the gas mileage, but about how much CO, NOx, and NMOG it produces. It also matters that Rover has a pretty limited number of cars it can sell, so for it to meet the fleet requirements..... They spent some money on those catalysts.
just makes me smile to know that I am both guzzling gas and keeping the air clean...
Percentages, boys. Its all in the numbers.
