I can't believe 2000 people want to see my wacky car stuff, but it's pretty cool! Thank you everyone who is a subscriber!

Congrats, now give me a prize for being a subscriber! lol
Actually, you already have. You were the inspiration to organize my dang garage. It's a mess now, again, but not as BIG a mess as before!

That's great! Well not the re-mess, but you know what I mean. I have a LOT of garage videos coming to set up the new garage!
Nice milestone. I'm hovering at around 1200 subscribers but my videos are generally not broadly focused. I turned on the ad revenue after I got there and it's pretty sweet getting a hundred or two every month for...basically nothing. YT is an interesting phenomenon. It used to be hard to find good content but nowadays I spend my evenings watching my subscribed channels instead of (usually bad) TV.
I should drive down sometime and you can review my 911 compared to your other Porsches since I'm just up in Seattle :D

That would be awesome! You can drive the other 3 and give your viewpoint on them too! My neighbor has a 987 S Cayman, so we can get him into it too.
So, other than "make good videos," what do you attribute to the success and finding more subscribers? I'm not trying to do this for a living, but having a larger audience would be nicer and I'd love some advice.

Networking in person. Over 70% of my subscribers are local to me, so it's all the people I autocross and track day with.
Cross posting helps as well. I have a channel Facebook and Instagram.
Not pandering for sponsors. I've had zero promotions or sponsors and spend my own money on all the stuff I use. You'll never hear me talk about Rade or SquarePants.
And finally, informative videos. My best performers are DIY stuff like how to do a compression check or strip paint and car reviews of past performance cars where I actually go underneath the cars to look at suspension, etc. Vlog style does basically nothing.

That's what my Instagram would look like if I used it. I have an account. I should start posting pics of car parts.
I've done a couple of vlogs on mine. They tanked.
My model car kit reviews generate a lot of views. Not big initial numbers, but a constant stream over time.
S197 Mustang and the Ford Lightning generate a lot of views. The crappy little VW Jetta buyer's guide I did does okay too.
The classic car project and my generic motorcycle videos don't do very well. My Royal Enfield ones do well, because the brand is on fire right now.
Shorter, 10-15 minute videos tend to do better than long ones. I think an hour long presentation only works when you have a large, established viewership.
I do it for fun, so don't really care how well they do, but it's all been an interesting experiment and it does kind of guide me on what I should spend time on.

Cool, I have my winter tires on it right now (actually makes it more comfortable). But its a 2017 base manual 911 with a tune and exhaust, so it's quite fun. I may have some time in December when my partner is out of town :)
