Either way, it describes me today.

Woke up two hours before the autocross because my brain was worried I'd oversleep. Towed the club trailer out to the site at dawn. Started the minions on a path to set everything up as I'm also the new solo chair. Caught a ride back to my house to get my car as my co driver and SWMBO had worked overnight and wasn't even home till near noon (she's beat too). Gave the drivers meeting and decided lots of things. Long hot day of dodging cones in the sun. Finished 8th overall (of 71) and won my class (of 4).

Got another person to follow me home so I could drop off the race car. Handed out the trophys. Left the site last and returned the trailer to it's storage facility. Got home long enough to chug a gatoraid and put my two spawn in the car to return to their mother. SWMBO had left the car with NO gas in it so side trip for gas. Drop the kids and come back home. I'm utterly done. Stick a fork in me done.

But it feels good to be "racing" again after the winter hiatus. I hope everyone else who can is living their lives as fully! Beats laying around on the couch.

I had roughly the same day except instead of all that, I grilled and did nothing. Exhausted

I dunno, lying around on the couch is pretty underrated.

I believe it's 'knackered'. Drove down to Roebling Road Friday afternoon to do a DE, wound up sitting in the sand first session on Saturday (my own damn fault), got in three good ones the rest of the day but my buddy got caught in a melee which really crunched up his car. Not his fault and he's OK but the car will need some frame work and sheet metal. Did the first session this AM, it went well but the chemo was catching up to me so I loaded up and drove home. Yep, I'm knackered.

Today was the nicest day in the NE this year. Beautiful, sunny... perfect for motorcycling. But, I was signed up to run the Scranton Half-Marathon at 9am which takes less than 2hrs... so I figured the rest of the day would be all bikes after I got some water and some calories.

Then, after the race I uttered the following in response to a friend's obviously astute observation: "Well, I suppose one beer won't hurt..." and it didn't. But the 3 million that followed required me to use Uber to get home.

Sunday the 12th dawned warm, sunny, and very mild, a beautiful day for autocross. Unfortunately our season opener was on the 11th, and we had berking Force 5+ winds all day.

In addition to the usual first-event issues, we were rolling out our new computer registration / scoring / live results system that worked perfectly with the timing gear on my dining room table the night before and gave us endless headaches in the field. We also got about 30 walkups, making this the largest event we've ever had by about a dozen cars. The timing gear wouldn't talk to the scoring system which means we had to manually enter times for almost 400 runs. By the time I got that straightened out, it was too late and we were committed to manual transcription. In addition, the wireless was flicking in and out which meant people kept coming to the tent to bug us for results. The event went off pretty successfully, but there was a LOT of stress under that EZ-up by the end of the day.

My wife and daughters help out, which is great because they're smart and I trust their work, but it also means I have to go home with them at the end of the day. That was unfun for a while, but we spent Sunday post-morteming the issues and coming up with solutions. I think we've got a pretty good system planned out now, that should allow for analog redundancy without messing up the automated system.
