Maybe you feel that way because your view of beer isn't as important to you as it is to some of us. I wouldn't be surprised if Salanis would say that it's more important than any political matter, and I agree.

See, this is why beer is infinitely better than politics. I totally understand people who hate IPA, and people who totally love them. I'm in the middle. They're not my go-to drink of choice, but sometimes they're just what I need.

This is like the hardest core lefty telling the most died-in-the-wool ultra conservative "Well, it's not my style but have fun at the rally tonight!" That kind of friendly civil discourse does not exist in politics.

I remember when I first enjoyed a pale ale. When I was getting into beer, my natural inclination was to go to the "darker" beers: Stouts, Porters, etc.. I then had a Dale's Pale Ale on a hot summer afternoon, and then pale ales suddenly made sense to me.

DFH 90 Minute is probably my all-around favorite. It's not exactly extravagant or "cutting edge" with its flavor, but damn is it good.

You may not have sampled enough variety then.

I hated beer until a wonderful, unpasteurised red ale taught me that Molsons and Labatts aren't beer.

That being said, I haven't found an IPA that I like. Too much hops in IPA. Some of them seem to add hops just for the sake of it rather than for good taste.

90 minute has been my "daily driver" for the last couple weeks. Nothing touches it for the price, IMO.

BullE36 M3 left coast list, although I do like the Racer 5.

Bells 2 hearted is a good local IPA, but the hands down best is Dark Horse brewery's Crooked tree. It's becoming more widely available, but if you live in Southern Michigan you simply must go to Marshall and visit the dark horse brewery and pub. It's magnificent and literally on the wrong side of the tracks

IPA's were created to make good beer last for long boat journies to India. They hopped the crap out of it for longevity's sake, not because they liked the taste of it.

I like most beers, but I stay clear of IPAs as a general rule.
