So yesterday I had planned to take mini me to Dayton to look at planes but he showed little interest in that so we went to the National Corvette Museum to look at cars instead (cool kid). The cars were cool and if my $10 raffle ticket pays off I'll own one in my lifetime.
It was also I discovered the inaugural 10/10ths HPDE at the NCM track. A couple of friends of mine were driving so we wandered over to the site to watch for a bit.
During lunch I got a lower (!) speed ride around the full 3.2 mile course and I must say coming from an autocross background.... I want to give this a shot! The next event there is (I think) StartingLine on November 2. $200 bucks but no setting up cones, no cleaning up at the end, no worker assignments. Just 5 20 minute sessions of driving fast.
Oh, and the sinkhole comment. Inside the museum, it's still there along with most of the smashed cars. On the track they made a replica of the famous Laguna Seca "corkscrew" and it's called the sinkhole. Fun!!
