Brother MFCJ4420DW They have both seen fairly hard use as printers and scanners over the last year and a half, and have both been outstanding. I strongly recommend.Do you feel like you get good ink life with this machine? My concern with an inkjet is that we have one now and spend a fortune on replacement cartridges.
I go through 3-4 black cartridges a year and maybe a set of color, but I also do a good bit of printing on this machine, because it prints all of my invoices. It also scans all service repairs and does all my copying.
My business partner has the other printer set up on his computer for estimating. It goes through about 2 black cartridges a year and a set or two in color. He does more color printing than I do.
I have a lot fewer problems with these than I did the HPs they replaced. The HPs seem to stop up print heads on a regular basis. They also gunked up the carriage and needed to be cleaned pretty regularly to keep them from streaking the pages.
I don't know that the Brother machines are necessarily the cheapest to operate, but they are by far the most dependable printers I've ever used. I'll take dependable over cheap any day of the week when it comes to business use.
After a number of years of fancy 7 cartridge Epson inkjets I decided to go with a laser printer. I bought an HP LaserJet Pro 200 color at Staples for $200 and have been very happy with it for the last 4 years.
I replace the toner cartridges about once a year compared to every 4 months with the inkjet. It does decent photo prints and has handled every type of paper I put in it. Everything from regular paper to glossy photo paper and heavy card stock.

Bought one of these today. Just finished setting it up. $59.99 at Office Depot. We'll see how it goes.
Improvement this morning. It might have been a driver issue. I initially downloaded the driver for 8.1. I double-checked this morning and my Surface Pro 3 is running 8. So I downloaded that instead, and moved the printer closer to my router. Not sure if one or both changes helped, but it printed MUCH faster.
